Here's a bit of gardening advice I got from a customer downtown at the Pots Place today.
It's NOT too late to plant herbs. In fact, last this person knows, there might be some herbs for a good price (think: about $3.00) at Hillview Garden and Floral, 2209 Nashville Road.
AND the date to plant them is the end of this month. That gives people a good 3-4 weeks to still plant herbs outside.
And other nurseries may also still have these for good prices.
She will be putting them in larger pots, trimming them for bushy growth, and using these herbs in her cooking. Sounds good!
Good luck with your garden plans this year, even if it's getting ready for next year (which I am doing!)
Downtown today, there is a Concert in the Park! I can hear it a little from inside.

Here is a posting to help you get motivated - and start your garden.
This blog posting is mostly for me.
It is a reminder posting that THIS year could be a GREAT year for a garden.
Yes, I've been looking again at seed catalogs.
Now to gather up all my seeds and do some serious planning.
Today (New Year's Day) I will be eating Lucky Foods.
An important thing for today is to remember that NOW is the time for starting seedlings. I have a couple of grow lights, and a little table. And seeds. So...I CAN do it, I am telling myself. Will I? I hope so. I do love fresh, healthy foods.
I and Rickey have been buying lots more healthy foods at the new Farmer's Market too.
But you can't beat almost-free, which goes along with growing your own food. You CAN do it (I am telling myself).
Have a GREAT day today.

Mowing and Gardening today at the Garden Spot: getting motivated
Hi, wonderful readers!
Today I mow the yard. This is just one of the jobs I have in the yard, but it will be a great start.
Here are some of my motivators for getting out in the yard today:
#1. I will get some Vitamin D.
#2. The yard will look better.
#3. I can start getting the garden ready.
#4. I will feel better after the exercise.
#5. I will feel good about myself today, and
#6. I will save money working myself instead of getting someone else to do it.
I have an old rider mower (thankfully) and just got it tuned up. It's time to put the earplugs in and see how it works now.
Are you also getting out there today? Leave a comment about that or what gets you motivated to get things done too.
Betsyanne
