Events and Things to Do in the Bowling Green, KY area October 25-29. PLUS meet Dracula!

This photo is of Dracula - who is making a special appearance on Monday through Wednesday nights next week at the Artistic Soul Studio (love that name), which is located at 1014 East 11th Street here in Bowling Green.

Yes, YOU can meet Dracula too, plus Draculina, his assistant. See the cool World Premier John Carpenter Movie Poster exhibit too.

The hours are 3-7 each night. They have all kinds of neat and super-cool collectible movie posters there. They also have an Etsy page here.

Thursday, October 25th
A free computer class is offered at the Bob Kirby branch library at 2 p.m. called Introduction to Mac <computing>. You must pre-register to attend. Call 782-0252.

Another free computer class is at the Main branch library from 2-3 p.m - Learn a Language with Powerspeak. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

From the WKU Astro page: Tuesday October 25 7:00 p.m.is the WKU Planetarium Show. This is a free show. It is first-come, first served. Doors open 15 minutes before show time.

The WKU Chess Club meets at 6 p.m. at the Faculty House on the WKU Campus. 918-809-6278.

The Skatebox is having another Toys for Tots Drive from 6-8 p.m. Bring a new, unwrapped toy and get in free. 843-3394.

Friday, October 26th
Tea Squares has a Learn to Read Tea Leaves demonstration from 3-5 p.m. Tea Squares is located downtown on the Square at 906 State Street. 904-3889.

From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "10/26/12 The 2nd Annual NAMI ( National Alliance on Mental Illness) of Bowling Green Chili Supper and Auction will be held on Friday, October 26th at 5:30 pm, at the Bowling Green Fire Department, 625 East 6th Avenue ( corner of Chestnut Street). $5.00 for a bowl of chili, hotdog, chips, cookie. Children 12 and under $3.00. Fundraiser Auction starting at 7:00 pm. For more information call: Larry Gregory at 270-303-8232."

Saturday, October 27th
The All Aboard Series at the Historic RailPark and Train Museum is featuring ghost stories this morning at 8:30 a.m. 745-7317.

From the WKU Astro page: 2:00 p.m.is the WKU Planetarium Show. This is a free show. It is first-come, first served. Doors open 15 minutes before show time.

The Zombie Walk is today at 4 p.m. sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of BG. Dress up like a Zombie, makeup is available and prizes will be given out too. After the event, Zombieland will be shown a the Ballpark.

Also, the Monster Dash 5K is today at Keriakes Park at 7 p.m. which is a benefit for the Joseph's Hope Foundation. http://www.joeshope.org.

Also today is Girl's Day Out at the Sloan Convention Center on Wilkinson Trace from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is free for guests/shoppers. They have a FB page too. More info? Contact Danielle at 791-4873.

The Aviation Heritage Park has an Open House today too from 10-4.

Jim Gill is giving a free concert today at 10:30 a.m. You can pick up your tickets at any Warren County library location.

From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "10/27/12 M & M Fundraiser Event for Hospice (In memory of Robert Steven Basham) will be held on Saturday, October 27th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lost River Elementary School, Bowling Green, Ky. There will be a chili supper, silent auction, bake sale, cake walk, games and music. All proceeds benefit Hospice of Southern Kentucky. For information on this event please call: 270-904-1936."

Sunday, October 28th
Today there is a High School Rodeo at the Ag-Expo Center. 745-3976.

From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "10/28/12 Rockfield United Methodist Church, Rockfield, Ky. Is having a Chili Supper and Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 28th with chili supper starting at 5:00 pm and trunk or treat from 6:00 pm -7:00 pm. Donations are requested for the youth group fund for the chili. For more information please call: Linda Sparks at 270-782-2690."

Monday, October 29th

The Artworks Annual Meeting is tonight at 6 p.m. at the 7th Street Fire Station. This meeting is a potluck meeting.

A talk by John Meacham is at 7:30 at WKU's Van Meter Hall. This talk is free.74505204. Mr. Meacham is a Pulitzer Prize winner and a TIME Editor.

Sunday, August 5th

Chaney's Dairy Barn has a celebration today - the Kentucky Monthly August Issue Celebration from 3-5 p.m. 843-5567. "The public is invited to join area astronomers at Western Kentucky University’s Hardin Planetarium Sunday (Aug. 5) for a free celebration of the arrival at Mars of NASA’s Curiosity rover.

Doors open at 8 p.m. and just before midnight, the event culminates with a chance to watch the live NASA-TV satellite feed from Mars Science Laboratory mission control of Curiosity’s scheduled entry, descent and 12:30 a.m. landing on Mars. Through out the night there will be Mars themed activities, speakers and exhibits for all participants to enjoy, including demonstrations of orbital mechanics, balloon-powered rocket challenges, and discussions of “The War of the Worlds” and other fictional tales of Martians or life on Mars. From twilight until about 10:30 p.m. participants may view Mars and Saturn through small telescopes."

Monday, August 6th

All Warren County Public libraries will be closed today for Inservice training.

August 10 will also be Concerts in the Park from6:30 - 10 p.m.
August 10-11 is also the Duncan Hines Festival at Circus Square Park.

August 11 is Agriculture Night at Chaney's Dairy Barn - 4 - 7:30 p.m. plus Ice Cream and a Moovie.
August 11 and 12 is the Dog Agility Trial at the L.D. Brown Ag Expo Center. 745-3976.
August 14 is a Doll Quilt Workshop at Riverview at Hobson Grove from 3:30 - 6 p.m. 843-5565. You must pre-register to attend by emailing Laura Southard at riverview.at.hg@att.net. The cost is only $5.00 per person. From the City website: "In this two day workshop, each child will learn to piece together and create a small quilt for their doll's bed.".
September 29th is the International Festival.

Tuesday, July 24th
Today the BGAMUG Computer Club has a presentation about Simple Backups and also one on External Backups at 6:30 p.m. 
The BGAMUG Computer Club meets at Bowling Green Technical College, 1845 Loop Street, Building F, Bowling Green, KY (see the map by scrolling down at this website.) Guests are always welcome, and the presentations are free.

All types considered are welcome as well, warbird, scale, jets, and ESPECIALLY 3D!!! We have a beautiful 800' paved runway with 100' smooth grassrunoffs, shade tree's, and ELECTRICITY. Food available on site.
RV's and camping welcome!! 20.00 landing fee

Saturday night will have a pilot dinner, live music, and night flying!!

11-1-11 through 11-30-2011: This is Military Appreciation Month at the Corvette Museum. From the KentuckyLiving site: "All those who have served and their immediate families receive free museum admission."

From the WCVK Community Happenings page: "...Winter Market located in the parking lot of the the old Bowling Green Mall at the instersection of Nashville Rd. and Campbell Lane, is open every Saturday through December 17th from 8:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m with fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs, canned items, crafts, artwork and lots of gifts ideas from local farmers and artisans. Hot Breakfast, live music and much more. This event is sponsored by Community Farmer Market."

Tonight from 5-8 is the last Gallery Hop for Bowling Green. The Pots Place Studio and Gallery will be open on Fountain Square with refreshments for visitors and lots of good deals. From the Visitbg.ky site:

Wildflower Gifts at Lost River Cave has a free Food and Beverage Tasting today from 12 noon to 6 p.m.

The Festival of Trains takes place today at the Historic Railpark and Train Museum at 401 Kentucky Street, BG. There is free admission from 5-8 and $5.00 admission from 5-8. Children 4 and under are free. 745-7317.

The Holiday Bash at the National Corvette Museum starts at 6. Find out more.

Saturday, December 3rd
The annual Bowling Green Christmas Parade starts at 9:30 downtown. From the BuyLocalBG site: "The Parade starts at Main and College Streets on Fountain Square, the parade will then cross 11th Ave. to go back up State Street and will finish at College and 6th. Will start at 9:30am and end at 11:00 am."

Today is the Fountain Square Christmas Market from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Come by the Pots Place Co-op Studio and Gallery at 428 Main Street (on Fountain Square)  to find many different and unique pottery gifts for that special person. It's the blue building just up from Capitol Arts.

The Bowling Green Main library has Toddler Time at 9:30 a.m. and Spanish Explorers at 4 p.m. 781-4882.

See the Star of Bethlehem in a free Planetarium show  at 2 p.m. at WKU's Hardin Planetarium. It is first-come first-served for seats.

The famous Mammoth Cave Sing is today from 2-4 at Mammoth Cave. Find out more: http://www.nps.gov/maca/parknews/cave-sing2011.htm.

The Pots Place Co-op Studio and Gallery is open weekly, Tuesday through Saturday from 11-3. They are located on Fountain Square in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This is Hunger and Homeless Awareness week.
