Sunday, August 26th
Honk, Jr., the Musical plays today at 3 p.m. at the PTK (Public Theatre of Kentucky) Phoenix Theater at 545 Morris Alley. Tickets are $8.00 and $10.00. 781-6233.

Monday, August 27th

A free computer class, Introduction To Genealogy Resources, takes place today at the Main branch library from 9-11 a.m. You must pre-register to attend. 781-4882.

The Women in Charge Luncheon is today from 12-1 at the Medical Center Auditorium. You must pre-register to attend. More info: 745-1010.

Thursday, August 30th
The National Corvette Museum starts three days of 18th Anniversary Celebration and Hall of Fame Induction activities today. Find out more: 2012 NCM 18th Anniversary and Hall of Fame Induction : August 30 - September 1, 2012.

The WKU Chess Club meets at 6 p.m. at the WKU Faculty House. 918-809-6278.

Friday, August 31st
Today is The National Corvette Museum second day of their 18th Anniversary Celebration and Hall of Fame Induction activities. Find out more: 2012 NCM 18th Anniversary and Hall of Fame Induction : August 30 - September 1, 2012.
Today they have a speaker, Wesley Wong, senior FBI on-scene commander at Ground Zero, who will speak about 9-11, at 10 a.m.  He is also speaking tomorrow at 9 a.m.

The Little Mermaid, Jr. shows today at WKU's VAn Meter Auditorium at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Find out more: 779-2185. They also have a performance tomorrow at 7 p.m.

There are Concerts in the Park tonight from 6-10, at Fountain Square Park and also Circus Square Park. 782-0222.

And Save these Dates:

Saturday, Sept. 1 starts the 2012 Applefest at Jackson's Orchard.

This morning at 8 a.m. upstairs at the Princess Bldg. downtown on Main Street (next to the Pots Place) is the Fountain SQuare Business Assoc. meeting. It is free and open to the public. 843-6103.

The South Central Kentucky Coalition on Homelessness meets this morning at 9 a.m. at the ALIVE Center on the ByPass.

Events in the Bowling Green, Kentucky area

Any day this week is a great day to go downtown to Fountain Square Park. Just saying! My favorite shop is the Pots Place pottery studio and gallery, and I also like Labold's Salvage (their FB page), one block down on E. Main (in the Spot Cash store). But there are MANY fun shops downtown on the square and nearby. I will have to make a Downtown Map soon.

"Now-6/18 The AETF, Inc. is offering “OnStage”, a performance camp for young actors at WKU Van Meter Theatre, week 1: will be June 18th-23rd 2012 - Musical Theatre and week 2: will be June 25th-30th 2012-Intensive Acting. The Kentucky Museum has Spring Break Art Camp today to April 13. from 8 am. to noon for kids grades 1-5. Cost is $50. Call 745-2594.

The Salvation Army has a free Spring Break Vacation Bible School from 8:45 a.m. - 12 noon daily for ages 6-13 at 400 West Main. Breakfast is included. 843-3485.

Saturday, April 14th
 Today is Second Saturday downtown on Fountain Square. Second Saturdays just keep on getting better! This one has booths, Jas Patrick Band and the Fender Benders playing in the afternoon, and an Open Mic in the morning. Other fun stuff happening downtown will be carriage rides, face painting, caricature painting, sidewalk sales and booths, games and more. Shogun Bistro and others will have food for sale. Check out their Facebook page. Also: My friend Suzy will have a booth there for her and her daughter's handmade stuff. Tell them Betsy sent you!
Today is a Kickoff Day at Lost River Cave from 10-5. Join Lost River Cave for the Lost River Cave's Discovery Cave Crawl at 10 a.m. From the Lost River Cave Site: "Help us get our brand new caving gear dirty with the Discovery Cave Crawl Tour.  An experienced caver will teach the basics of cave safety to kids, ages 6-12, before they journey underground to discover the beautiful and fragile environment of Lost River Cave.  Kids will get up close to examine cave formations and meet fascinating cave critters.  Prepare to get down and dirty, covered in good old-fashioned mud.  Set aside 2 hours for this exciting adventure, the cost is $25 per child. Today is also another Kickoff Event: "The Nature Trading Post encourages children and families to explore the world and create their own collections of natural objects. The Nature Trading Post is a fun and free opportunity for kids to share their knowledge about nature in exchange for collectible natural items. Today is a Kickoff Day at Lost River Cave from 10-5. Join Lost River Cave for the Lost River Cave's Discovery Cave Crawl at 10 a.m. From the Lost River Cave Site: "Help us get our brand new caving gear dirty with the Discovery Cave Crawl Tour.  An experienced caver will teach the basics of cave safety to kids, ages 6-12, before they journey underground to discover the beautiful and fragile environment of Lost River Cave.  Kids will get up close to examine cave formations and meet fascinating cave critters.  Prepare to get down and dirty, covered in good old-fashioned mud.  Set aside 2 hours for this exciting adventure, the cost is $25 per child. Today is also another Kickoff Event: "The Nature Trading Post encourages children and families to explore the world and create their own collections of natural objects. The Nature Trading Post is a fun and free opportunity for kids to share their knowledge about nature in exchange for collectible natural items. The SKRHA has a Spring Stampede at the WKU Ag Expo Center today starting at 9 a.m. 745-3976.


Heidi Alvarez and Jennifer Rhyme and Done Speer are Two Girls and a Guy, faculty recital performers, two flutes and Don Speer on piano, playing at 3 p.m. at the WKU Music Hall Choral Hall. 745-3751. This performance is free.
