Tomorrow is the Public Library's Dig into Reading Kickoff at Lost River Cave

Dig into Reading for the Public Library Summer Reading Program

I remember my daughter always liked being in the Summer Reading Program that the local public library does. I liked it too!

Tomorrow is the big kickoff at Lost River Cave. The dates for this year's program are June 6 - July 26.

The library has a Rain Plan posted on their Facebook page today.

Here is what they said:
"Here is the "rain plan" for tomorrow's kick-off at Lost River Cave (6/6/13): If it's raining in the morning, the kick-off will still be a "go" at 10 a.m. Gather in the outdoor playground area to get started, and we'll tell you where to go from there. We will only cancel the kickoff if there is a torrential downpour with lightning. Regardless of the weather, whoever braves the elements to come register for Summer Reading will receive info about the library's program, the cave's programs, and a kids' cave pass to use later (free with paying adult)."

And here is more about the event at the Visitbgky site:

and even more is at SurfKy.com:

Pictures from my walk on the Lost River Greenway

The Lost River Greenway is free to walk for people who live in or near Bowling Green, Kentucky, or for visitors.

This is a scenic walkway right by Lost River Cave.

Right now at the Lost River Cave website they have a coupon for $1.00 off adult or senior tickets and $.50 off for children's tickets to go on the Underground Boat Tour and Guided History Walking Tour.

I think you will see just how scenic and beautiful this area is from these pictures of my Greenway walk. I even got to meet the Director and tour guide at Lost River Cave that day.

One of our newest hiking trails

The new walking trail on Cave Mill road is a good one. It's steep coming back, but wends its way past some beautiful scenery. It's right across from the new Bark Park, where Bowling Green people are taking their dogs for a fun break. You can walk this trail and come back the same way or park your car somewhere else.

The Lost River Cave paths are also fun to walk, across the "new" bridge and down into the valley.

Bring a camera for some inexpensive photos, especially if you can just download them to your computer and share them via the net.
