From the WCVK Community Happenings Pages: Now-11/30 Bowling Green/Warren County Special Olympics is having signups for athletes and volunteer coaches now through Nov. 30 for basketball teams for the 2010-2011 season which begins in December. Practices are only twice per week. For more information call Bowling Green Parks and Recreation at 393-3584.

 
Also: (from WCVK) "Now-12/9 The Vision Multi-Agency Council is collecting retail store gift cards and cash donations now through Dec. 9 to provide Christmas Assistance for youth 13 years of age through high school. Donations can be dropped off at Community Education, Housing Authority of Bowling Green, and the WKU ALIVE Center. For more information call Nancy Booth at 782-0903. "

Riverview at Hobson Grove is having Victorian Holiday Tours from the 23rd until Dec. 19th (except Thanksgiving, when they are closed.) Call 843-5565 or go to their site at http://www.bgky.org/riverview

Sunday, November 28th
See the WKU decorated trees at the WKU Library and Museum today in the Museum's Kentucky Room from 1-4 p.m. Call 745-6082 for more info.

Monday, November 29th
The Medical Center is sponsoring a watercolor class today from 10 a.m. to noon at the Health and Wellness Center at Greenwood Mall. You must pre-register.  745-0942, http://www.mcbg.com.


A free computer class, MS Excel Advanced (pre-reg. required by calling 781-4882) is held today at the BG Main Library. http://www.warrenpl.org.


Pet Night with Santa is tonight at 6-9 p.m. at Dillard's Court at the Greenwood Mall. 782-9047.

Tuesday, November 30th
A Victorian Christmas Card Workshop is being held today at Riverview at Hobson Grove. The cost $5.00 each, and you must call 843-5565 to pre-register.  


PJ Tales takes place at BG Main library at 6 p.m. for families of all ages. Call 781-4882 for more info.

A Planetarium Show is at 7 p.m. at the WKU Planetarium. The show is The Star of Bethlehem. First come, first seated, so come a bit early. Contact Roger Scott with questions at 745-4044.

Berlenz Bar and Grill 270-904-0170, at 1823 Morgantown Road, is having a Free Poker Tournament to benefit the Humane Society and Toys for Tots at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Over $35,000 in cash and prizes per Soky Happenings. Call for more information.

A 2010 Holiday Bash and Auction fundraising event for charity is taking place at the National Corvette Museum today at 5 p.m. Many prizes, vacation packages, and more will be auctioned, and a concert will take place at 6:30. Check this WBKO page for news about the event, times of events, prize descriptions, and how you can bid ahead of time. Jeffrey Steele, Toby Lightman, and Emily West will be there.

Downtown Lights Up is from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Fountain Square in Historic Downtown Bowling Green. See the lights being turned on for the season, decorations, refreshments, downtown businesses, carriage rides, entertainment, and more.

WinterDance is tonight at 8 p.m. at WKU's Russell Miller Theater. Here is information from the WKU Potter College web page:

The BG Gallery Hop is December 3rd, 5-8 p.m. This is a fun event where you can see artist's studios all around town and near town too. Get a map here: http://www.thebowlinggreengalleryhop.comThe Pots Place will be part of this event. 

The Trees of Christmas event starts at the Houchens Center today at 1115 Adams Street. It is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. From the WCVK page: "Admission is free. "12/3-12/22 32nd annual Trees of Christmas at Eloise Houchens Center, 1115 Adams St., Bowling Green, will be Dec. 3-22, weekdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Sundays 1-4 p.m. Admission is free. December 11th and 18th: Chaney's Dairy Barn is having a Breakfast with Santa event from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. both days. It is a reservation-only event. You can call to reserve a spot starting on November 1st. (From the website: "Reservations will guarantee a seat, but not where you will sit").


December 13-16 will be the Polar Express Event. Polar Express readings in the Dining Car at the Historic RailPark and Museum. You must pre-register. Call 270-745-7317. 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. http://www.historicrailpark.com/.

Sandy Staebell, the Registrar and Collections Curator at the WKU Kentucky Museum, will discuss how plants and animals interpret the glory of nature as design elements and pattern names in many historic textiles. The Beyond the Vessel exhibit at Capital Arts continues until July 16.

July 11th is Second Sunday Tour Day at Rainhill Equine Facility, 1-4 p.m. Rainhill is located at 11125 Ky. Highway 185. Rainhill rescues horses who are blind, unwanted, or abandoned and helps them recover. Contact them at 270-784-1874 with any questions or to get on the mailing list.

July 16-18 is the annual Corvette Museum Homecoming. http://corvettehomecoming.com/.  Call 270-791-2117 for more information. The Homecoming will be at the Sloan Convention Center, 1021 Wilkinson Trace, BG. There will be a lot going on for this event, including a Car Corral and a Parade. Gordon Killebrew, NCM Hall of Famer, will be at this event too. If you are in the armed forces or are retired, a WKU student, or an active or retired GM employee, your tickets will be half price.
