Events for Sunday - Tuesday, October 14th - 16th.

Here are just a few events going on this week, Sunday - Wednesday, October 14th - 17th.

Sunday, October 14th

The Red River Meeting House in Franklin has a Primitive Camp Meeting and Rendezvous today. Camping is available. http://rrmh.org/pcm.htm.

The WKU Hardin Planetarium has a show at 2 p.m. "Finding Your Way Around the Autumn Sky". Seating is first-come, first served. 745-4044.

WKU's Gordon Wilson Lab Theatre is showing Two Dumb Dogs - a play for all ages, at 3 p.m. 745-3121.

The WKU Choirs have the Fall Choral Concert today from 4-5:30 p.m. at WKU's Van Meter Hall. 745-3751.

Monday, October 15th
A free computer class is offered today at the Main branch library from 6-7 p.m., Microsoft PowerPoint. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

The Corvette City Bop and Dance Club meets at 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. for adults over 21, singles or couples, at the FOP. Find out more: 991-4040.

The Birdland Big Band has a free concert at 7:30 p.m. at WKU's Van Meter Hall. Info: 745-5204.

SKyPac has Death on the Downbeat (an Orchestra Kentucky Whodunit) at 7:30.
 

Tuesday, October 16th

Riverview at Hobson Grove has a Victorian Skills for Young Ladies and Gentlemen class today: Knit a Scarf at Riverview! <For Boys and Girls age 8 to 80> Reservations are required.  843-5565

Another free computer class is offered today, Computing For Seniors, from 10-11 a.m. at the Main branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

WKU has Octubafest at 7:30 p.m. at the WKU Ivan Wilson FAC Recital Hall. 745-3751. This is a FREE concert.

The Graham Drive Library has a Mac Lab today from 3-5 p.m. 781-1441.

The Warren County Public Library has Paranormal Researcher Jeff Yeckering todaynat 6 p.m. He will present some photos of paranormal anomalies and discuss his research. Call for more info.: 781-4882 or see the VisitBgKY webpage about it.

The Sierra Club meets today at Lost River Cave's Burch Room from 7-9 p.m. 904-0628.

Wednesday, October 17th
Beech Bend Park has Buick GS Nationals today starting at 8 a.m. 781-7634.

Another free computer class is offered today, E-mail for Beginners, at the Main Branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Cal 781-4882.

The KYDS - Kentucky Youth Drama Society - meets today at 4 p.m. at the Main Branch library. Students grades 5-12 can attend, but must pre-register. Call 782-0252 or 781-4882.

October 19th is WKU's Homecoming Parade and Big Red's Roar.

October 20th is WKU's Homecoming.

October 20th is the day for Pumpkin Painting at Lost River Cave and Valley. From their site: "Local artist, Emily Lobb Hendricksen, invites you to a FREE pumpkin painting lesson on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 2-4pm. Paint and supplies will be provided. Fun for all ages!"

Participants can purchase a locally grown pumpkin for painting at Lost River Cave during the entire month of October.


October 20th is also a Ham Breakfast. From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "10/20/12 There will be a HAM BREAKFAST going on at the Goshen-Lodge, Sherry-Poe Memorial Hall, 9335 Twin Bridges Road, Alvaton, Ky. On Saturday, October 20th from 6:00 am till 10:00 am. Its all you can eat Ham, Eggs, Biscuits, Gravy, and Drink. Cost is $6.00 for adults and Children under 10 is $3.00. For more information call: Rose Davis at 270-843-8772."

October 24th is Food Day at the WKU Ag Expo Center from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. 781-8039.

It is also the Brain Freeze Bike Challenge at Chaney's Dairy Barn. You must pre-register to attend.

Saturday, October 27th is The Bowling Green Zombie Walk!

Also October 27th: From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "10/27/12 Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and School, Bowling Green, Ky. is having there Trunk or Treat Octoberfest on Saturday, October 27th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Enjoy games, goodies, a silent auction, food, and sorts of Fall Fun. For more information call the church at 270-843-9595."

October 27th is also WKU Ghost Tours at 8 and 10.

November 4th is the BG 26.2 Marathon and Hafl Marathon.

New events at Riverview at Hobson Grove

They are Hobson Grove events. Here is the first one:

"JACK-O-LANTERN JUBILEE

Here are some fun events in and around Bowling Green, Kentucky for August. Note: they are not all free. I will be adding more this week. Please be sure to check every event before attending, just in case.

The Beyond the Vessel exhibit at Capital Arts continues until July 16.

There will be free hayrides, pony rides, local agriculture businesses, plus Ice Cream and a Moovie. For more information call 843-5567."

Here are just a few events I found today. I will add more - - and feel free to add more as comments too.

July 8th will have a free concert by the Lost River Cave Big Band at the Colonnades at Ivan Wilson, WKU, at 7 p.m. Contact Deloris Trammel deloris.trammel@wku.edu for more info.

July 10 One Wild Night party, Fluid Nightclub. Animal print theme party. This party will benefit RePets, who are currently fixing up their new location. 9 p.m. 94-4550. http://www.fluidbg.com.

July 11th is Second Sunday Tour Day at Rainhill Equine Facility, 1-4 p.m. Rainhill is located at 11125 Ky. Highway 185. Rainhill rescues horses who are blind, unwanted, or abandoned and helps them recover. Contact them at 270-784-1874 with any questions or to get on the mailing list.

July 16-18 is the annual Corvette Museum Homecoming. http://corvettehomecoming.com/.  Call 270-791-2117 for more information. The Homecoming will be at the Sloan Convention Center, 1021 Wilkinson Trace, BG. There will be a lot going on for this event, including a Car Corral and a Parade. Gordon Killebrew, NCM Hall of Famer, will be at this event too. If you are in the armed forces or are retired, a WKU student, or an active or retired GM employee, your tickets will be half price.

July 23: Concert in the Park, Fountain Square Park and Circus Square Park, BG. 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 24th will be the ArtWorks Festival. Chaney's Ice Cream will be there, and there will also be carriage rides, as well as musicians and inflatables for the kids. If you want to display your art contact Misha Ambrosia at 270-782-7257 or visit http://www.artworksinc.org.

July 26 - July 31 is the SOKY Fair at the Jaycee Fairgrounds, BG. http://www.sokyfair.org. This annual event has rides, contests, events, a midway, and lots more.

July 28: This is the United Way Day of Caring. See this site to sign up for various projects around town to help others. http://www.uwsk.org.

Also: on July 31st, the Grateful Gathering Music Festival will be held at Wha Ba Steakhouse. Proceeds will benefit the Son Rhea Foundation. Grateful Dead tunes, funk, jamming, and acoustic artists will be there, as well as vendors. Find out more: http://www.gratefulgathering.com/

HARDIN PLANETARIUM
is one of the most fun FREE things to do in Bowling Green. Bring your family or scout troop here. It's always a thrill for me when they start dimming the lights so that your eyes get used to the darkness. And you MUST go before summer, when they take a break. You can go see "The Planets" 7 p.m. Tuesday or Thursday, and 2 p.m. Sunday until May 10th. Find out more here:
