Art Shows and Exhibitions

Misha Ambrosia is having her art shown at Greener Groundz during February.


The VSA Exhibit is free and open to the public at the Garden Gallery at the Kentucky Library and Museum this month until March 21st. 745-2592.

Kendall McMinimy is showing his art at the WKU Ivan Wilson FAC Corridor Gallery from Feb. 16-March 23rd. 745-3944.

A Modern Atomic Art exhibition will take place Feb. 18th  - March 25th at The Gallery at 916. http://www.thegalleryat916.com.

Martha Duff has an art exhibit at the Bob Kirby branch library through February 28th. 

Kay Zoretic's jewelry is exhibited at the Warren County Library main branch this month through February 28th. 781-4882.


The Regional Scholastic Arts exhibition 2011 is frm 9-5 through February 27th at the Capital Arts Galleries. 782-2787.

Sunday, February 27th: The Community Bowl for Kid's Sake continues today from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. This is a benefit for Big Brothers/Big Sisters at Southern Lanes. 781-1180.

The Closing Reception for the Very Special Arts Exhibit is today from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Capital Arts. Everyone is welcome 782-2787,

A Black History Month Finale Extravaganza is held at 3:30 p.m. today at the Graham Drive Community Library. Enjoy food and fun.

Orchestra Kentucky has a VIP Series Concert tonight at 7:30 p.m. with Larnelle Harris and African-American music by William Grant Still, Duke Ellington, and Nat King Cole. Call 846-2426. Thursday, March 3rd:
Community Education has a Sit and Sew class today. Bring your own machine and a project of your choice. The cost is $15.00 and is a continuing class. Register at 842-4281.

Professor Gregory Hansen will have a book signing event and a reading tonight from his book "A Florida Fiddler: The Life and Times of Richard Seaman" at 6-7 p.m. at the Kentucky Library.

A Planetarium show "Celestial Motions" will take place at the WKU Hardin Planetarium at 7 p.m. Call 745-4044. Check the website for more info. too.

The WKU Chess club meets from 6-9 at the WKU Faculty House and is open to the public. All skills and ages are welcome.

From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "03/4/11 Bowling Green High School Students will perform Bye Bye Birdie, the Tony Award Winning musical, at the Capitol Arts Center March 4 and 5, 7 p.m., and March 6, 3 p.m. The cast is made up of over 80 students including several elementary and junior high students. Tickets are $12 adults, $8 students. Call 746-2300 to reserve seats and for more information."

This is the first day of the Home Expo 2011, which is 5-8 p.m. today at the Sloan Convention Center. See products from landscapers, builders, and designers plus mini-seminars, displays, a door prize, and more. Tickets are $8.00 or 2 for $15.00 for adults and accompanied (by an adult) children are free.


From the WKU Events pages:  Tonight is a free Faculty/Guest Violin Recital at Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center 01889 from 6-7:30 p.m. This recital is free and open to the public.

The Bob Kirby Branch library at 175 Iron Skillet Court has a free computer class, Intro to Mac Computers, today from 2-3 p.m. You must pre-register to attend by calling 270-782--252.

(The Parade is at 10:30 and the Plunge is at 11:00 a.m.)

ART EXHIBITS THIS MONTH

Kristina Arnold's "re cycle" exhibit shows this week at the Capital Arts center from 9-5. 782-2787.

The Gallery at 916 has a Photography exhibit this week from 11:30 a.m. - 5p.m. through February 12th. Voting is $1.00 and goes to CASA. 270-843-5511.

Warren County Library's Bob Kirby branch has an exhibit by Missi Carini and Jenny Morehead through January 28th.

Brenda Brown's art will be shown at the Main Branch library in the Porter Cafe through January 28th too.

The Country Peddler Design-an-Ad Contest  is on exhibit at the Mezzanine Gallery at the Capital Arts Center this month. 782-2787.


A FAVORITE... Lost River Cave's hours this month are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Gift Shop is open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tours of the Cave are at the top of each hour.

Sunday, January 16th

TONIGHT: (Sunday, December 12th) Masterpiece Classic is showing "Return to Cranford" at 8:00 p.m. tonight. This is part one of two. It is a great show! I have seen it twice already. Just saying.

December Happenings in and around Bowling Green, Kentucky.
This month: Veterans have free admission to the National Corvette Museum. Call 781-7973 for details.  Also (from a Corvette Museum email) "The National Corvette Museum has named the entire month of December “Dollar Days” for residents of Kentucky who visit the Museum. All month long, Kentucky residents can tour the Museum for a $1.00 admission per person, and will only need to show a Kentucky drivers license to take advantage of the special offer. Children will be admitted at the $1.00 price with adults presenting the Kentucky identification." Also "Visitors can also take a chance to win a 2011 Corvette or Camaro for only $10 and do some holiday shopping in the Corvette Store."

Monday, December 13th

A Free Computer class is at the Main Library at 6-7 p.m. Call first in case it has snowed again, to make sure it is on. In any case, you must pre-register. The class is Beginning Your Resume. 781-4882.

This is the second day of The Lost River Cave Civil War: Living History Days at Lost River Cave. This is a free event. Make sure to bring earplugs if you go when they will be firing a cannon. The Northern Heights - Parker Bennett community will have a Chili Supper today at 6:30 p.m. This is part of the Celebrate Safe Communities events. See this website for more information.

(from the mailer postcard) 4-6 p.m., the BG Main library at 1225 State Street will hold a Legislative "Meet and Greet" reception and Proclamation Signing for Friends of Libraries Week. Share your library stories with political candidates and community leaders.
 Right after this, John Carter Cash will have a presentation as part of the library's My Life is an Open Book series at 6:00 p.m. (He is the son of Johnny and June Carter Cash).
