Monday, December 20th
Very Special Arts (VSA) is having a Holiday Art Sale today from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.. at 515 East 10th Street. 781-0872.

Artworks has its 3rd Annual exhibition at the Presbyterian church from 9-4.

Tuesday, December 21st

The Warren County Extension office at 3132 Nashville Road is having a Holiday Fun Shop today from 9-3. 842-1681.

The Bob Kirby Branch library is showing a classic Dr. Seuss movie as part of their Winter Reading program event at 4:30 p.m. You must pre-register for this by calling 782-0252 (branch #) or 781-4882 (Main branch).

A free computer class, Introduction to Blogging, is at the Main library from 6-7 p.m.



Wednesday, December 22nd
A free computer class is at the Main Library today from 10-11, Computing for Seniors. You must pre-register to atttend. Cal 781-4882.

An After-School special for students of all ages is at the Graham Drive Community Branch library today at 3:30 p.m. 781-1441.
Thursday, December 23rd
Today is Get Your Cards and Presents Done Day. (just kidding - - to find some events for today, try clicking on the links to the right on this blog.

There aren't many special events today.20-26

Friday, December 24th
The Skatebox is having a Family Skate from 7-10 p.m. for $5. a person. 843-3394.

Barnes and Noble has a Story Time featuring the Night Before Christmas at 11:30 a.m. 746-9779. Children will receive reindeer food.

Several area churches are having Christmas Eve worship services, including The Presbyterian Church, St. James UMC, and First Baptist Church.

December 25th - Christmas Day
Rockfield UMC is hosting a Christmas Day meal today at Chaneys Dairy Barn from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Call with questions Tina Brown at 535-9120 or Debra Chaney at 843-5567.

The Skatebox will be open today from 7-10 p.m. $8.00 a person. 843-3394.

Sunday, December 26th - First Day of Kwanzaa

The Jambodians Holiday Bash is today at 6 p.m. at WhaBah Steakhouse. It is a fundraiser for the Son Rhea Foundation.  Find out more here at their facebook page: http://on.fb.me/fVPAIv.


 New events taking place this month from the WCVK page:

"Now-12/31 Rocking’ B Horse and Carriage Company will be offering carriage rides around downtown Bowling Green starting on the square throughout the month of December. Prices are $5 adults, $1 children 13 and under. Half of the proceeds will be donated to different charities including St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Kelly Autism Program.

12/24/10 Walnut Grove Baptist Church, Russellville, will be serving Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, for anyone in need of a warm meal at two locations, Walnut Grove Church, 2941 Highland Lick Rd., 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and at Café, 3rd St., 10:30 a.m.-12 noon. Delivery is available. Call 847-7981 or email impact-change@live.com for more information."

Cheap and Free events in and around Bowling Green, Kentucky for Monday, December 13, 2010


 These are some selected events in and around the area for Monday, December 13th, 2010.


AND:
TONIGHT: (Sunday, December 12th) Masterpiece Classic is showing "Return to Cranford" at 8:00 p.m. tonight. This is part one of two. It is a great show! I have seen it twice already. Just saying.
Love history, and lots of great stories? You will love Return to Cranford.

December Happenings in and around Bowling Green, Kentucky.
This month: Veterans have free admission to the National Corvette Museum. Call 781-7973 for details.  Also (from a Corvette Museum email) "The National Corvette Museum has named the entire month of December “Dollar Days” for residents of Kentucky who visit the Museum. All month long, Kentucky residents can tour the Museum for a $1.00 admission per person, and will only need to show a Kentucky drivers license to take advantage of the special offer. Children will be admitted at the $1.00 price with adults presenting the Kentucky identification." Also "Visitors can also take a chance to win a 2011 Corvette or Camaro for only $10 and do some holiday shopping in the Corvette Store."

"12/3-12/22 32nd annual Trees of Christmas at Eloise Houchens Center, 1115 Adams St., Bowling Green, will be Dec. 3-22, weekdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Sundays 1-4 p.m. Admission is free. Help local children keep a little warmer this winter by making a donation of hats, gloves, and scarves. For more information call 842-6761."

WKU is having their Fall Graduating Seniors Art exhibition this month until the 18th. at Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Gallery, FAC and the Corridor Gallery. Call 745-3944.

Also, 30 Trees of Christmas decorated by students will be on display this month in the Kentucky room of the Kentucky Library and Museum. Call for hours, 745-6082.

Santa photos and visits are this month at Dillards Court at Greenwood Mall through December 24th. Call 782-9047 for hours each day.

The Kentucky Museum on WKU's campus has a Holiday Trees and Ornaments exhibit right now. You can see some pictures of them at their Facebook page here. You can see more events at the Calendar Page. 

This month until the 17th, the Warren County Public Library is collecting gently used mittens, coats, gloves, scarves, and hats for children and adults. They will go on Mitten Trees at the libraries. Call  781-4882 for more info.
  
Monday, December 13th 
 
December 13-16 will be the Polar Express Event. Polar Express readings will be held in the Dining Car at the Historic RailPark and Museum. You must pre-register. Call 270-745-7317. 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. http://www.historicrailpark.com/.
 
Santa is visiting 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Greenwood Mall. Also, there is a Snow Show at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Dillard's Court. 782-9047. Pet Night is tonight  with Santa from 6 to 9 p.m.

Ryan's has a Senior Meal Deal today for lunch all week, 1-3 p.m. The price is $5.49 including drink. Call to find out what a Senior is there. 843-1439.

A Free Computer class is at the Main Library at 6-7 p.m. Call first in case it has snowed again, to make sure it is on. In any case, you must pre-register. The class is Beginning Your Resume. 781-4882.

Look for Tuesday and onwards as soon as I can get it typed Monday. :-)

Save the dates for later in December:

December 18th: Chaney's Dairy Barn is having a Breakfast with Santa event from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. It is a reservation-only event. You can call to reserve a spot starting on November 1st. (From the website: "Reservations will guarantee a seat, but not where you will sit").


Also from the WCVK site: "Til Further Notice Madison Ave. General Baptist Church, 1617 Madison Ave., Bowling Green, serves a free hot breakfast the 2nd and last Saturdays of each month, 8-10 a.m. They have sausage, biscuits and gravy, eggs, fried taters, and coffee. All are welcome. For more information call 303-0530."

Wildflower Day 2010 offers several guided walks, talks and special programs that celebrate the wildflowers, wildlife and human history of Mammoth Cave National Park.  
 
Mammoth Cave National Park is a beautiful place, below and above ground.  The cave itself gets most of our attention through the year, but in the spring we raise our sights above ground.  The park's rugged ridges and valleys are home to a host of plants and animals just waiting for you to enjoy."

There will be Ranger-led hikes (including a Family Scavenger Hunt), two special display exhibits, hands-on sketching and painting, a Bee talk, Cedar Sink adventure, a Floyd Collins program, a Birds of Prey talk complete with a live Barred Owl, and campfire stories at the Park Amphitheatre.

Stop and shop at the Gallery Hop! (Friday March 19)











A Bowling Green Gallery Hop will take place this Friday, March 19.

Who: Artists and Friends of Artists, everyone who loves to look at art.


Where: All around Bowling Green - at shops, people's studios, etc.

What: The 3rd Annual Gallery Hop! This is an event where people go from studio to studio checking out new artist's work, having snacks, chatting, and buying things from artists.

When: 5:00 - 8:00 (times may vary a bit for different locations)

How: Very easily visit lots and lots of artists AND see their studios! It's a fun event. This is the first Gallery Hop. There will be more offered this year too.

I will be at the Pots Place during the Gallery Hop this year, but hope to also visit other artists' studios too. See you there!
