Mark your Calendar - some neat Bowling Green Kentucky events coming up.

I found out about some great events today.

Some are a ways off, but it helps to know the dates ahead of time on these things.

You can check out the week's events here - Events in the Bowling Green, Kentucky area for May 8-14.

Some events that are coming up are:

The Galactic Expo in Nashville, Tennessee at the Tennessee State Fairground/Nashville Expo Center. Times are Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

You can find all kinds of neat booths here, plus seminars and things to see and do, like massage therapy, aromatherapy, astrology, aura photography, mind-body-spirit practitioners, authors, pet wellness ideas, workshops, books, clothing, gifts, therapies, psychics and psychic readings, crystals, music, mediums, jewelry, etc. etc. etc.

This event is a lot of fun. I have been to this twice before, and really liked it a lot. Tickets are $8.00 at the door. You can also find ticket specials before the event or $1.00 off coupons at their site here.

Also a lot of fun is Art in the Park (Fountain Square Park) - which is also May 14. If you would like a booth it is only $15.00. Contact Mike Barren at 843-6103 if you are interested in a booth and tell him Betsy sent you. This is also Second Saturday, which is a fun event at Fountain Square Park, complete with face painting and lots more. "Fat Box", a band, will play that day too, along with chess players from a local high school.

One of the prizes for Squirrels on the Square this month is a new bicycle from Howard's Bicycle shop. Neat!

June 3rd is the next Gallery Hop, where people in the Bowling Green Kentucky area get to visit artists, have yummy snacks, and visit artist studios.

NCM Road Tour (Corvette Homecoming) This popular event will draw 200+ Corvettes on July 15th.

June, July and August there will be Concerts in the Park at both Fountain Square Park and Circus Square Park. June is noon concerts, and July and August has Friday night concerts. There will be a booklet available from the Country Peddler about these concerts, so be looking for that.

The Hobo Times exhibit at the Historic RailPark happens June 15 - Dec. 31, 2011.
This sounds neat. They will have Hobo Nickels, a Hobo Quilt show (with hobo signs), a Hobo Jungle, activities and exhibits too. 270-745-7317

The 30th Anniversary of the Capital Arts Center is September 30th, and they plan a celebration on September 24th.

And here is a really neat event coming up. It's the Bowling Green-Warren County Civil War Sesquicentenial - coming up on Saturday, September 17, 2011. This sounds really fun.

This event will include a re-enactment of the Confederate invasion and surrender of Bowling Green, downtown walking tours, a Confederate Encampment, Living History demonstrations, speakers at old buildings downtown, a Civil War exhibit and activities at the Kentucky Museum, music, costumes, and (from the flyer  saw) "a 'Spirits of the Civil War' guided tour of 'ghostly perspectives' of Civil War 'spirits'".

I can't wait to hear more about this event - it sounds great. They will have more info. in the next couple of weeks at this site: http://www.visitbgky.com.

Do you have another exciting upcoming event to list? Leave a comment about it, or let me know which event sounds good to you!
