July Events - - all kinds, in and near Bowling Green, Kentucky

July is full of neat events.
Here are just a few events I found today. I will add more - - and feel free to add more as comments too.

I found a great resource today - - it is the WBKO Community Events page. You can click on any day and find MANY MANY great events here or in neighboring communities.  What a great page!

7-2-10 From the WCVK page: "7/2/10 Thunderfest of Bowling Green featuring TheTyrone Dunn Experiment beginning at 6 p.m., on Friday, July 2 at the National Corvette Museum Amphitheater. Fireworks around 9 p.m. Gates for the event open at 4 p.m. The cost is $15 a carload or $5 an individual. Children’s inflatables will be available for unlimited use with a $10 armband. There also will be tethered balloon rides for $5 each, and food and soft drinks will be for sale."
Thunderfest at the National Corvette Museum Amhitheater. 3-10 p.m, fireworks at dark. http://www.bgkiwanis.org/thunderfest. This event is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club.

July 9 and 10: Mark your calendar for the Chaney's Dairy Barn Dinner and a Moo-Vie at Chaney's Dairy Barn, outside at dusk. The movie will be Hotel for Dogs. Bring items for the animal shelter that day, to give to the Humane Society today. Go to their site for more fun events: http://www.chaneysdairybarn.com/ They also have tours by reservation only.

Today is the last day to pre-register for the Cooking for the Garden presentation at the Warren County Extension Office on Thursday. Sample recipes from Betsy Ann Tracy, and get ideas of how to use fresh fruits and vegetables. 3132 Nashville Road, 842-1681.

Tuesday, June 29

Today's Events (Sunday, June 27)

 Hi, all!

I hope you are having a great summer. It's true that South Central Kentucky has more events than ever that are free or cheap or at least worth it. And the 4th of July is coming up. Many people will be having family events or get-togethers with friends or clubs.

A big thank you goes out to all the Bowling Green blogs and papers that help post cheap and free events all the time for us. You can go directly to their sites at the end of this posting. I will be posting the events for the rest of the week later on today.

Here are some things to do for today, Sunday, June 27th:

Sunday, June 27: 3:00 p.m. Seven Brides of Seven Brothers is playing at BG Junior High School, 900 Campbell Lane. If you have never seen this play, you will really like it. It is a rollicking fun musical. Tickets are $14, $12, and $10. You can find out more here: http://www.fountainsquareplayers.org/.

1-3 The Annual Butterfly Celebration is being held today at Lost River Cave and Valley. This event is free. 393-0077.  The event is at the Butterfly Habitat near the Cave. Free lemonade! We are doing another van transport w/ about 60 dogs/puppies and some kitties too! We need approx 10
about volunteers to help walk dogs and help w/ loading the transport truck.

The Bowling Green Chapter of the Nashville Songwriters meets tonight and second Tuesdays at the Bowling Green Main Library. Bring your guitar and a song. Meet and greet is at 5:30 p.m., meeting is at 6:00 p.m. More info: 270-996-8555.

Also Thursday, Marching Along, a Free Concert, begins at 7:00 p.m. Southern KY Concert Band Twilight Concert Series, WKU Fine Arts Center Outdoor Amphitheatre. For more information, call 745-4388.
Also: 10-13 (Thursday through Sunday) 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Fly in a 1929 Ford Tri-Motor Airplane at the Bowling Green-Warren Co. Regional Airport. You can arrange a flight by calling 1-800-843-3612  or going to the airport lobby to register, www.flytheford.org. The price is $50.00 for EAA members, and $60.00 for non-EAA members. The planes carry 9 at a time. Every seat has a window.

The Downtown Street Fair is today at Fountain Square Park, downtown Bowling Green, from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Call 843-6103 for more information. There will be food vendors, horse and carriage rides, inflatables, and sidewalk sales today.

More SOKY NTRP  Tennis Championship action is today, starting at 8:00 a.m. at Kereiakes Park, Bowling Green.

Also at Kereiakes Park today at 8:00 a.m. is the Yoga in the Park practice, then from 9:15 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. is the Playground Yoga class, which is for kids ages 2-6 and their parents and/or grandparents. The Public Theater of Kentucky reunion is today too. It is at Covington Woods Park, Bowling Green. Bring a covered dish and see your old PTK friends. 781-6233. Everyone is welcome.
