Check out the great displays of lights in town!

The lights and displays in Bowling Green, Kentucky are beautiful.

This week, try just riding around and looking at some great light displays around town. There are some really good ones out there.

One good place to see, now that all the lights are turned on, is the Fountain Square Park display. There is a creche in one corner, and plenty of beautiful white lights turning the park into a lit fire tinsel of a place.

Let me know what you think - and send me your links to some of the great light displays around Bowling Green, Kentucky this year.

One of the best Bowling Green, Kentucky events - the Lighting of the Square - is Thursday

The Lighting of the Square is one of Bowling Green, Kentucky's most fun events.

This month is chock full of free and cheap events. Try the links to the right (scroll down to about the middle of the page - and check under the "Blogs, Groups and Sites" heading) to find out about some of them.

One of the best events, I think,  is the Lighting of the Square, this year headed by Standing Stone Ministries. It is this Thursday, December 3rd.

Read more at WBKO's site:
http://www.wbko.com/home/headlines/78168437.html

There will be carriage rides (with a new ticket system like Disney World uses), live choirs, prizes, and lots more. Check out the Standing Stone link here:
http://standingstoneinc.org/Events.html

I just love how Bowling Green's historic Square looks when it is lit for the holidays. Even if you can't make the lighting, you can drive down to the square when it is lit up and just have fun gazing at all the white twinkling lights! They really do a good job with it. The lights make the Square look like a Fairyland.

Get Ready to Experience the Civil War!

See Civil War Reinactors, booths, costumes, and more October 16, 17, and 18, 2009 at Lost River Cave.

I have been to several of these reinactments. It was so fun.

Be prepared with earplugs if you go when they are firing the cannon. Just saying.

They have had booths, a church service, and cannon firing in the past. You can find all kinds of crafts, costumes, iron mongering, tents, and more here.

Soky Happenings has some great pictures this issue of the Lost River Cave Civil War Living History Days. I also have some photos here too from last year.

Check out the further information about this event here:
