Fun events for the holiday season in the Bowling Green, Kentucky area for 2012.

The holiday season is one of the busiest times for fun events in the Bowling Green, Kentucky area.
























I have listed a few, and also the main sites around town too, so you can find out even more fun things to do.

Friday, Nov. 30th Today is the Gallery Hop, also Downtown Lights Up. The Pots Place downtown and many other locations will be open for this fun event.

November 30th - Dec. 2 is also WinterDance, the WKU Dance production. 745-5845. Tickets are $15 and $12. Time is 8 for Fri. and Sat., and 3 for Sun.






Also Nov. 30: (from the WCVK Community Happenings Page) "11/30/12 Trees of Christmas Annual Open House will take place on Friday, November 30th starting at 3:00 pm, at the Houchens Center, 1115 Adams Street, Bowling Green, Ky. There will be holiday entertainment and refreshments. For more information please call: 270-842-6761"

This exhibit will continue. "12/1/12-12/21/12 The 34th Annual Trees of Christmas will be taking place through the month of December Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sundays 1:00 p m to 4:00 pm. At the Houchens Center , 1115 Adams Street , Bowling Green, Ky. This years theme is “Let’s Enjoy an International Christmas”. For more information please call: 270-842-6761."

November 30th is also Winterfest for WKU's Symphony, the WKU Chorale, Men's Chorus, the Women's Chorus, the Redshirts and the Treblemakers. 745-7681.



 

From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "11/30/12 Bowling Green High School A Cappella Choir presents…A Taste of Christmas on Friday , November 30th at 7:00 pm and Saturday, December 1st at 11:00 am. In the BGHS commons. Under the direction of Trish Beresford. For more information please call: 270-746-2300."



Saturday, December 1: Today is the 2012 Christmas Parade.

From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "12/1/12 Bristow Elementary School, Bowling Green, Ky. Is having their having their Holiday Bazaar and Craft Fair on Saturday, December 1st from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. It will be located in the gym with all kinds of vendors set up from Mary Kay, Pampered chef, Thirty one products, and more. For more information please call: Elaine Frint at 270-842-1960." 

Also: "12/1/12 There will a Pancake Breakfast with Santa at Bristow Elementary, Bowling Green, Ky. On Saturday, December 1st from 7:00 am to 10:30 am. Pancakes, a meat, and drink will be $5.00 and $3.00 for ages 3 and under. It will be in the school cafeteria. December 1: Chaney's Dairy Barn has the Red River Fiddlers here at 6 p.m. It is free and all ages are welcome.

From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "12/1/12 Warren County Public Library, 1225 State Street. Bowling Green, Ky. Will have sign ups on Saturday, December 1st for the Walkaround Cookie Monster. From 11:30 am to 4:30 pm. There will be 30 minute meet and greet photo opportunities through out the day."

Saturday, December 1st is also a Holiday Bazaar and Craft Fair (plus breakfast with Santa) at Bristow Elementary from 8-3. 842-1960.



 

Sunday, Dec. 2nd has Festival of Trains at the Historic Railpark from 1-4, Cave Sing at Mammoth Cave National Park at 1:15 p.m., a special Plantetarium Show "Doomsday" at the WKU Planetarium (free), WinterDance at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. at WKU's Van Meter Auditorium, a service of Evening Prayer at the Presbyterian Church downtownat 4 p.m., Revusicals at 7:00 the Gordon Wilson Hall Lab Theater, and much more.

Monday, Dec. 3rd: From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "12/3/12 Quaternity at Christmastime, Quaternity is a trombone quartet who members perform with the symphonies of Nashville, Utah and Orchestra KY, along with the Greenwood High School Choir. Is having a free concert on Monday, December 3rd at 7:00 pm. In The Living Hope Baptist Church “Chapel” ( former Holy Spirit Catholic Church sanctuary) to benefit Joseph’s Hope Foundation, an organization that assists those seeking to adopt children with the entire process, including helping to offset costs. Monday, Dec. 3rd: A Last Chance to Dance - a free performance - is at 4:00 p.m. at Van Meter Auditorium.





Tuesday, Dec. 4th: From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "12/4/12 The 20th Annual Bowling Green Area Prayer Breakfast will take place Tuesday, December 4th at the National Corvette Museum, 7:00 am to 8:00 am. Doors will open at 6:30 am Tickets are $35 and corporate and table sponsorships available. The speaker this year is Colonel Paul Longgrear, Retired U.S. Army Special Foreces, one of only 13 Green Berets who survived the Battle of Lang Vei. Served as a pastor, missionary. Net proceeds from the breakfast will go towards this years recipient HOTEL INC. For more information please call: 270-467-8815 or go to www.prayerbreakfast.com." 

Tuesday, Dec. 4th: Revusicals - a free performance - is at 7 p.m. at WKU's Gordon Wilson Hall Lab Theatre today.





Thursday, Dec. 6th: Warren RECC has an Open House from 4-6 at 951 Fairview Avenue.

Thursday, Dec. 6th: The Medical Center has "Make the Season Bright" at 5:30 featuring carols, refreshments, and more.

Thursday, Dec. 6th: A special Plantetarium Show is tonight at 7 p.m. "Doomsday" at the WKU Planetarium. This is a free show, first come, first served. Doors open 15 minutes before the show.

Thursday, Dec. 6th: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever plays at the Phoenix Theater at 7 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 6th: Little Women plays at the Capital at 7:30 p.m.





Friday, Dec. 7th The Best Christmas Pageant Ever plays at the Phoenix Theater at 8 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 7th: Little Women plays at the Capital at 7:30 p.m.

Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7th and 8th: From the WCVK Community Happenings Page:
"12/7 & 12/8 Houchens Center, 1115 Adams Street, Bowling Green, Ky. Will be having Craft Shopping Days on Friday and Saturday December 7th and 8th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. There will be a variety of craftspeople and vendors selling unique items. A bag lunch of homemade goodies will be available for purchase. For more information please call: 270-842-6761."

From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "12/15-12/16 Eastwood Baptist Church, Bowling Green, Ky. Worship Ministry invites you to their Christmas musical “A Down Home Christmas” on Saturday, December 15th and Sunday December 16th at 6:00 pm. Doors will open at 5:30 pm Childcare provided for children four and under. It is free and open to the public. The musical will re-visit the laid-back, relaxing Christmas of years gone-by by singing most loved Christmas songs in the Gaither-Homecoming style. Saturday, November 10th
Today is the Veteran's Day Parade starting at 10 a.m. at Circus Square downtown.

****ALSO in Nashville today is the Elves' Fair at the Waldorf School. This is a fun event with lovely crafts, dolls, photo ops, food, and more.  http://www.lindenwaldorf.org/elvesfaire and Middle Earthlings - by the Nashville Scene. ****

Today is a fun Holiday Bazaar at St. James United Methodist Church, which is at 575 Winfield Drive. Time: 8-2.

Another Christmas Bazaar is at Christ United UMC on Cave Mill Road, 8 to 2. They will be serving Breakfast and Lunch.

The Warren County Homemakers Assn./BGJH International Club have a Bizarre Bazaar from 9-3 at BG Jr. High  at 900 Campbell Lane 9-3.

The Once Upon a Time Charity Ball is tonight benefiting the Free Clinic in town. It starts at 6 p.m. Find out more at the BG Daily News article here.

Here comes the weekend! Events in the BG, KY area for Friday - Monday, September 7-10, 2012

Friday, September 7th
The Special Olympics Softball State Championships are being held today at Buchanon Park.

A free computer class is today from 10 - 11:30 a.m. at the Smiths Grove Branch library, "Microsoft Word Intermediate. You must pre-register to attend. Call 563-6651.

The Balloons, Tunes and BBQ event continues today at 4 p.m. at the Bowling Green Warren County Airport.

Also Ice Cream and a MooVie is happening at Chaney's Dairy Barn at 7 p.m. (dusk). Tonight the movie is Happy Feet 2.

The 48th Annual Antique Show and Sale is today from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 911 Searcy Way. Proceeds will benefit local community projects. This event continues on Saturday.

The Fourth Wall Ensemble (Flute, trombone, and percussion) plays today at WKU's Fine Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. This concert is free.745-3751.

Lost River Cave has several events this month, like Fall Break Bash. Read about them: Lost River Cave events. 

Tonight the Delafield Homecoming Festival features discounted carnival rides starting at 6 p.m. at Sugar Maple Square. Find out more at the VisitBGKY site here.

Saturday, September 8th

Today is also the Second Saturday Street Fair from 9-3 in downtown Bowling Green, unless there is a lot of rain.
Second Saturday has been cancelled as of Friday night. Sorry!

The 5th Annual Delafield Homecoming Festival is also today, at Sugar Maple Square, from 10-7. 784-4325. See this website for details. "9/15/12 The “Running For St. Jude 5K and 1 Mile Walk" will be on September 15th At Phil Moore Park Alvaton, Ky. Registration starting at 7:30 am. With races following afterwards at 8:00 for the 5K run and 8:30 the 1 Mile Walk. The cost is $20 for the run and $15 for the walk. "9/21/12 Jody Richards Elementary School, Bowling Green, Ky. will he having their Fall Festival on September 21st from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. There will be inflatables and lots of games. August 14 is a Doll Quilt Workshop at Riverview at Hobson Grove from 3:30 - 6 p.m. 843-5565. You must pre-register to attend by emailing Laura Southard at riverview.at.hg@att.net. The cost is only $5.00 per person. From the City website: "In this two day workshop, each child will learn to piece together and create a small quilt for their doll's bed.".

September 29th is the International Festival.

Monday, July 9th
Chaney's has farm tours today. Check out this info. from their website:

Tuesday, July 10th
This morning at 8 a.m. upstairs at the Princess Bldg. downtown on Main Street (next to the Pots Place) is the Fountain SQuare Business Assoc. meeting. It is free and open to the public. 843-6103.

The South Central Kentucky Coalition on Homelessness meets this morning at 9 a.m. at the ALIVE Center on the ByPass.

Fun events in the BG, KY area December 5th - 11th

I love Christmas trees!
Here are just a few events going on this week.

This is a very busy week! There are many more events going on each day here in Bowling Green; just find them via the links to the right on this page.

11-1-11 through 11-30-2011: This is Military Appreciation Month at the Corvette Museum. From the KentuckyLiving site: "All those who have served and their immediate families receive free museum admission."

From the WCVK Community Happenings page: "...Winter Market located in the parking lot of the the old Bowling Green Mall at the instersection of Nashville Rd. and Campbell Lane, is open every Saturday through December 17th from 8:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m with fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs, canned items, crafts, artwork and lots of gifts ideas from local farmers and artisans. Hot Breakfast, live music and much more. This event is sponsored by Community Farmer Market." 

From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "12/2- 12/23 The 33rd Annual Trees of Christmas at the Houchens Center, Bowling Green, Ky. See all the unique trees decorated according to their own favorite movie title, take family pictures, and vote for a favorite tree. Bring your family and see trees created by local civic groups, non-profits and other organizations. Admission is free. The trees will be open each day December 2-23. Weekdays from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm , Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sundays 1:00 to 4:00 p.m."

The Velveteen Rabbit shows at WKU Van Meter Theater at 5:30 p.m. there is a Christmas Party in the lobby before the show with carollers and tea with Santa too. Tickets are $12. for adults and $10. for students. 779-2185.

Today is the WKU Redz Dollar Night public event from 6-10:45 at WKU DUC's 4th floor. Call 745-2456. The fee is $1.00 per hour and the public is invited.

Today is the Friday Night at WKU Redz public event from 6-10:45 at WKU DUC's 4th floor. Call 745-2456. The fee is $3.00 with a WKU ID and $5.00 without. The public is invited.

The Nutcracker is playing at the Capital Arts Theater downtown at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15.00 for adults, $10.00 for students and seniors, and $8.00 for children.
