This is the second day of the Doll Quilt Workshop at Riverview at Hobson Grove for ages 8-12 starting at 3:30 p.m. You must be pre-registered to attend. Call to see if there is an opening. 843-5565. This event started yesterday.
A free computer class is today, Email For Beginners, at 2 p.m. at the Bob Kirby branch library. You mut pre-register to attend. Call 782-0252.

The Public Theatre of Kentucky presents Honk! Jr.: the Musical at 7 p.m. tonight at the Phoenix Theater at 545 Morris Alley. Tickets are 8 and 10 dollars.

Friday, August 17
Big News - American Idol is in downtown Bowling Green today on Fountain Square. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. Find out more at the Daily News article.

A free computer class is today from 10-11 a.m., Facebook for Beginners, at the Smiths Grove branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 563-6651.

The AARP meets today from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church. The meeting is a potluck. Call for more info: 782-0712.
Tonight is Concerts in the Park! Both downtown squares will be alive with sound from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. 

The Public Theatre of Kentucky presents Honk! Jr.: the Musical at 7 p.m. tonight at the Phoenix Theater at 545 Morris Alley. Tickets are 8 and 10 dollars.
There is a Garden Party at the Cave... which cave? Lost River Cave. This will benefit the BGWC Humane Society. Tickets are $40.00 each. More info: 783-9404.

The SoKy Concert Band plays in a free concert from 7-8 p.m. at the WKU Fine Arts Center Patio.

Fun Events in the Bowling Green Kentucky area Jan. 1-8, 2012

A huge thanks goes out to everyone who plans all the great events here in Bowling Green, Kentucky throughout the year. This is just a few of the many events going on in the Bowling Green Kentucky area.

From the WCVK Community Happenings page: "Now- 1/31/12 Kentucky Dept of Fish & Wildlife is collecting "real" Christmas trees for fish attractor work in area lakes. Area drop off sites are Kentucky Fish & Wildlife bldg. in Bowling Green off Bennett Lane on WKU's farm, the Glasgow Regional landfill, or Allen County-Scottsville Transfer station. For more information call 746-7129." 


Also: "Now- 1/13/12 Community Education and U.S. Bank, Bowling Green, KY, invite young people in grades K-12 to participate in this year’s art contest, Bee-ing Good Neighbors. Children are ask to design posters about being good neighbors in the community. For ideas on the theme and details on the art contest, you can visit the website at http://commed.us/spell/artentry.pdf or call: 842-4281 Entry forms are available on the website or at US bank branches. The deadline for entries is January 13, 2012."

Downtown

The Pots Place is open Tuesday - Saturday from 11-3. Find pottery and unique gifts, including Fairy Doors, trays, Nut Heads, pitchers, mugs, plates, vases, and lots more.

There are many other original stores downtown. Come visit all the stores there for fabulous sales and fun.

Tuesday, January 3rd
The Recreation and Outreach Center at First Baptist Church on 12th Avenue has a Zumba class today at 6:30 p.m. and also a CoreFit class at the same time. Class is $10.00 or $40.00 for 10 classes. Find out more: 842-1019.

There is a meteor shower starting at nightfall - the Quadrantids Meteor Shower. Find out more: http://spaceweather.com/meteors/quadrantids/quadrantids.html. On the site it says that this meteor shower will be most visible near dawn. Many people miss this show because it is so cold.

St. James United Methodist Church has a Chili Cook-off and Competition today starting at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited. 842-4949.

Thursday, January 5th
