Fun events in the BG, KY area December 5th - 11th

I love Christmas trees!
Here are just a few events going on this week. 


Make sure to check every event before attending.

This is a very busy week! There are many more events going on each day here in Bowling Green; just find them via the links to the right on this page.

11-1-11 through 11-30-2011: This is Military Appreciation Month at the Corvette Museum. From the KentuckyLiving site: "All those who have served and their immediate families receive free museum admission."

From the WCVK Community Happenings page: "...Winter Market located in the parking lot of the the old Bowling Green Mall at the instersection of Nashville Rd. and Campbell Lane, is open every Saturday through December 17th from 8:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m with fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs, canned items, crafts, artwork and lots of gifts ideas from local farmers and artisans. Hot Breakfast, live music and much more. This event is sponsored by Community Farmer Market." 

From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "12/2- 12/23 The 33rd Annual Trees of Christmas at the Houchens Center, Bowling Green, Ky. See all the unique trees decorated according to their own favorite movie title, take family pictures, and vote for a favorite tree. Bring your family and see trees created by local civic groups, non-profits and other organizations. Admission is free. The trees will be open each day December 2-23. Weekdays from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm , Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sundays 1:00 to 4:00 p.m."

Monday, December 5th
Sunburst Youth Theater has tryouts today from 4-6 p.m. for A Little Princess for youth ages 7-18. Call for more info. 781-6233. The Phoenix Theater, 545 Morris Alley.

The Trees of Christmas are at the Eloise B. Houchens Center on Adams Street today from 10-2. Admission is free. 842-6761.

Wednesday, December 7th
The Historic Railpark and Train Museum has The Polar Express event at 5 p.m., 5:30, 6:15, 6:45, and 7:30.  You must pre-register to attend. Call 745-7317.

The Velveteen Rabbit shows at WKU Van Meter Theater at 5:30 p.m. there is a Christmas Party in the lobby before the show with carollers and tea with Santa too. Tickets are $12. for adults and $10. for students. 779-2185.

Today is the WKU Redz Dollar Night public event from 6-10:45 at WKU DUC's 4th floor. Call 745-2456. The fee is $1.00 per hour and the public is invited.

Thursday, December 8th
A free computer class is today, "Learn to Download eBooks and Audiobooks" at 10 a.m - 11 a.m. at the Main Branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

The Wildflower Gift Shop at Lost River Cave has a Food and Beverage Tasting today with free samples. 393-0077.

The Trees of Christmas are at the Eloise B. Houchens Center on Adams Street today from 10-2. Admission is free. 842-6761.

Riverview at Hobson Grove has a Christmas Tea and Tour today at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $18.00 each. Reservations are required. Call 843-5565.

Friday, December 9th
A free computer class, "Online Holiday Shopping" is at 2 p.m. at the Bob Kirby branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 782-0252.

WKU's Department of Theater and Dance present Along Came a Dragon at 4 p.m. at WKU's Gordon Wilson Hall's Lab Theater. Tickets are $4.00 per person. 745-5845.

Today is the Friday Night at WKU Redz public event from 6-10:45 at WKU DUC's 4th floor. Call 745-2456. The fee is $3.00 with a WKU ID and $5.00 without. The public is invited.

The Nutcracker is playing at the Capital Arts Theater downtown at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15.00 for adults, $10.00 for students and seniors, and $8.00 for children.

The Symphony at WKU and the BGW Choral Society is playing Holiday Pops at WKU's Van Meter Auditorium at 8 p.m. 745-5222 or 745-7681.

Saturday, December 10th
Chaney's has Breakfast withSanta today from 8-9:30 a.m. and 10-11:30.  You must pre-register for this event. Tickets are Adults $9.95 and children 3-10 $5.95.

Home for the Holidays is playing at the Warehouse at Mt. Victor tonight from 7-11 p.m. Music is by the Ernie Small Blues Band with Jane and Rachel Pearl, Randi Womack, Chris Durbin, Bruce Kessler and Bob Bridges. Proceeds go towards the Family Enrichment Center. See their Facebook page too.

Sunday, December 11th
The ALIVE Center at 1818 31-W offers an (East) Indian Culture and Heritage (ICH) and Language Class from 10 a.m. to 12 noon today at the ALIVE Center. Languages taught are Hindi, Gujarati and Telegu. More info: 270-746-9508 or 502-544-7221.

The Bowling Green Woman's Club presents their 17th Annual Christmas Home Tour from 1-5 today. Tickets are $10.00 in advance from a member or at Werner Lowe, and $12.00 the day of the tour.

Welcome to the Cheap and Free events listings for this week.

Check this out: The Community Education Winter Classes catalog is now online. Some classes start this month, some next month. The class schedule and the signup sheet download to your desktop as pdf files. If you do not have a pdf reader, you can download one for free here.

ART EXHIBITS THIS MONTH

Kristina Arnold's "re cycle" exhibit shows this week at the Capital Arts center from 9-5. 782-2787.

The Gallery at 916 has a Photography exhibit this week from 11:30 a.m. - 5p.m. through February 12th. Voting is $1.00 and goes to CASA. 270-843-5511.

Warren County Library's Bob Kirby branch has an exhibit by Missi Carini and Jenny Morehead through January 28th.

Brenda Brown's art will be shown at the Main Branch library in the Porter Cafe through January 28th too.

The Country Peddler Design-an-Ad Contest  is on exhibit at the Mezzanine Gallery at the Capital Arts Center this month. 782-2787.


A FAVORITE... Lost River Cave's hours this month are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Gift Shop is open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tours of the Cave are at the top of each hour.

Sunday, January 16th
