Tuesday, June 8
The Bowling Green Chapter of the Nashville Songwriters meets tonight and second Tuesdays at the Bowling Green Main Library. Bring your guitar and a song. Meet and greet is at 5:30 p.m., meeting is at 6:00 p.m. More info: 270-996-8555.

Day 4 of the Power Tour of Hot Rod Magazine is Holley Night. This is the nation’s largest rolling car show. Watching the parade of cars is totally free. To register for the event is $80.00. Phone 877-413-6515 to learn more. http://www.hotrod.com/index.html

Chris Rumble, author of the Uncle Stinky series, will be at the Bob Kirby Library at 6:00 p.m. This event is for all ages and is free. 782-0252.

Also today (Thursday) is the free movie at Great Escape Theater. Today’s movie is Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.” The first come, first served movie starts at 9:30 a.m. You probably want to get there early in order to get a seat. Find out more at 782-3112.

Also Thursday, Marching Along, a Free Concert, begins at 7:00 p.m. Southern KY Concert Band Twilight Concert Series, WKU Fine Arts Center Outdoor Amphitheatre. For more information, call 745-4388.
Also: 10-13 (Thursday through Sunday) 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Fly in a 1929 Ford Tri-Motor Airplane at the Bowling Green-Warren Co. Regional Airport. You can arrange a flight by calling 1-800-843-3612  or going to the airport lobby to register, www.flytheford.org. The price is $50.00 for EAA members, and $60.00 for non-EAA members. The planes carry 9 at a time. Every seat has a window.

Want to be in the Guinness World Record book? 4:30 p.m., the public is invited to attend to be part of the most people simultaneously yo-yo-ing at the same time. (Bring your own yo-yo). The Downtown Street Fair is today at Fountain Square Park, downtown Bowling Green, from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Call 843-6103 for more information. There will be food vendors, horse and carriage rides, inflatables, and sidewalk sales today.

More SOKY NTRP  Tennis Championship action is today, starting at 8:00 a.m. at Kereiakes Park, Bowling Green.

Also at Kereiakes Park today at 8:00 a.m. is the Yoga in the Park practice, then from 9:15 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. is the Playground Yoga class, which is for kids ages 2-6 and their parents and/or grandparents. Donations to the Kiwanis Club are accepted today. Location is behind the shelter, near the tennis courts. To find out more, phone 782-6984 or email kiwanisyoga@yahoo.com.

The Public Theater of Kentucky reunion is today too. It is at Covington Woods Park, Bowling Green. Bring a covered dish and see your old PTK friends. 781-6233. Everyone is welcome.

The National Corvette Museum is holding a BIG cruise today. There will be muscle cars, music, and food. This event is free. Call first at 393-0288.

Artist Andee Rudloff is doing a Wood Ties for Dad workshop today from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. 1 ½ hour session is only $20.00. All supplies are included. The workshop is at Memphis Marsha’s Art Gallery and Classes. Call 843-1726 to register.
 
The Pots Place is giving Pottery lessons in wheel throwing and handbuilding pottery. Call Bob at 535-0561 for more information.

Feb. 18: A free concert "The History of Jazz" for the community by flutist and lecturer Galen Abdur-Razzaq will be at the BG Technical College at 7-9 p.m. The audience is invited to "sit in" with Galen too. This is presented for Black History Month. Here is a description from the BGTC site:

"Galen Abdur-Razzaq is one of the most popular musicians and lecturers on college and university campuses. He has received rave reviews from many institutions such as California State Polytechnic University, Georgia Southwestern, University of Maryland, University of West Florida, University of Minnesota, Tuskegee University, University of Wisconsin, The Ohio State University, Miami Dade Community College, Hillsborough Community College and Kansas State University. A former student of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts and a graduate of Rutgers University, Galen holds a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts and Education."

From the WNKY page: "This unique event will highlight local children as they take center stage for an evening of deep belly laughs and fun while we search for our area’s youngest comedians!"

Lenten Fish Fries will be held all through the month on Fridays  from 5-7 p.m. starting on February 19th by the Knights of Columbus at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 911 Searcy Way.
