The SoKy Happenings Magazine reminds everyone there is one week left to register to vote before the May primary.  High school students may register at school now, others at the County Clerk or Circuit Clerk/Driver's License offices.

CASA training takes place this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Help young people by training to be their advocate. Find out more by calling 782-5353 or going to their site at http://www.casaofsck.org.

The Adult Softball League registration deadline is Friday, April 15th. Call Parks and Rec. at 393-3249 for more info. Fee is $425.00 per team. Games start May 2nd.

From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "Now-4/15 Volunteers are needed for Area 5 Special Olympics Track and Field Competition to be held April 30. 100+ volunteers are needed to assist with track events as well as awards, lunches, and Olympic Town. Interested persons or groups may contact Bowling Green Parks and Recreation at 393-3584 for more information. Volunteer deadline is April 15."

April Squirrels in the Square:
Find 6 squirrels at participating shops in Fountain Square through the 31st and win a big, big Surprise Basket filled with neat things. Just find 6 squirrels at shops downtown.

"Kentucky Museum, April 15 – May 14, Department of Art Spring Graduating Seniors Exhibition
From Graphic Design to Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Weaving, Ceramics and Sculpture, this group exhibition, co-sponsored and hosted by the Kentucky Library and Museum, presents the work of the Department of Art’s Seniors graduating in the Spring of 2011. Saturday, May 14: Closing Reception".

 
Daryl Halbrooks and Joe Moninaro (EKU) have an exhibition at Capital Arts through April 19th. 
Also at the Capital this month is Rachael Baumgardner, in the Mezzanine Gallery.

Granville Mitchell will exhibit his art at the Warren County (Main Branch) Public Library from 8-8 at the Porter Cafe through April 29th.

Sarah Dineen will show new paintings at WKU's Ivan Wilson FAC Corridor Gallery through April 6th.

GARDEN PLOTS / SPRING BREAK CAMP / WATERPARK PASSES: Signups are going on for BG Parks and Rec Garden Plots at Keriakes Park 393-3249, BG Parks and Rec Spring Break Camps 393-3249, and Russell Sims Water park passes, 393-3249. If you want a garden plot, register early because these run out fast.

Signups are taking place for a Fiction Workshop June 13th - July 9th for advanced undergraduate and graduate students at WKU Extended Learning and Outreach. "Release Your Creative Talents!"Contact Dr. David Bell at 745-4406 or email him at david.j.bell@wku.edu for more information.

Russell Sims Water Park is having a Pre-Season Pass Sale this month until the 29th. Individuals are $75.00 and a family of 4 is $175. If you sign up now you also get a free pass to the BGPR Fitness Center. Opening Day is May 21st.  393-3249.

WKU will have a play, April 14-19 called A Taste of Honey at Gordon Wilson Lab Theater. 745-5845. Adults are $11.00 and students are $9.00.


Driving Miss Daisy is coming to the PTK April 15th and will continue through May 1st.


Sunburst Youth Theater Day Camp 2011 will take place June 6-17.

Rich Pond Baptist Church has an Easter Play on April 14-17, "39 Hours". Tickets are free; contact Rich Pond Baptist Church at 842-2593. No tickets are required for Sundays.

The Capital Arts Center has three local bands, Felonious Funk, Fat Box, and Deep Fried Five on Friday, April 15th at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12.50 General Admission. 782-2787.

Also playing on Saturday April 16th at 8 p.m. at the Capital Arts Center are The Ernie Small Blues Band featuring Jane and Rachel Pearl and Randi Womack. Tickets are $10.00 General Admission. 782-2787.

Monday, April 11th:
The Bowling Green Hod Rods play at 6:30 p.m. at the B.G. Ballpark. The first 1000 fans get a free T-shirt. A pre-game concert by the Black Shades is also happening. http://www.bgHotRODS.com, 901-2121.

The SKY Soccer Club is sponsoring a free TOPSoccer event from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at Lovers Lane Soccer Complex for Young Athletes with Special Needs, from Kindergarten through High School. Players will have a buddy assigned for the games. Come on out and have fun, beginners are OK. Call 846-1010 for more info.

Misha Ambrosia is having her art shown at Greener Groundz this month.

This week in and around Bowling Green, Kentucky June 2-12

Here are some neat events and things to do in and around Bowling Green Kentucky this week and next.

"June 2 Concerts in the Park Series begins. Noon. This free event takes place Wednesdays in June at Fountain Square Park, Bowling Green, KY." For more information, call 782-0222 or click here.

June 3-6 OR 7 400 Mile Sale, This event is on Highway 68 across Kentucky from Paducah to Maysville from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. There will be antiques, collectibles, and all kinds of yard sale stuff for sale by the roads or in front of stores all along the route. You can go to the 400mile.com website for more information.

June 5 National Trails Day Celebration, Lost River Cave and Valley

June 5: The Caveman Chorus will sing at WKU's Van Meter Auditorium today at 7:30. Also, Michigan Jake and the 80-man Music City Chorus of Nashville will also perform. Tickets are $12.50 for adults and $5. for students, in advance. For tickets and info. call 202-0515.

June 5: Today is Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill's Adventure Day. It is a day to explore and have fun with your family. Find out more here. You can see the schedule here. Many events are free, but some you need to pay for. You can also go to their site. June 5-6 This is Fee Free Days at Mammoth Cave National Park. Take a trip today and get in for free. They will also have limited free Historic Tours with tickets available at the Visitor Center. You may want to call first. 758-2180, http://www.nps.gov/maca

June 7: the Summer Reading program kicks off at Parker Bennett Curry Elementary School today at 1:30 at the school gym. A new prize will be given to a lucky child 13 and under this year - $1,000 cash.  Visit the website at http://www.warrenpl.org to get more information. The program is for kids and adults this year.
