 Fun things to do in the Bowling Green, Ky area August 7th - 14th.

The Main Library is closed through the 17th due to renovations. The other branches are open.

Make sure to double-check each event, just in case.

Sunday, August 7th
The Russell Sims Aquatic Park is having a Sunny Day Pool Party today sponsored by WKYU-PBS from 1-5. 745-2202.

Parents skate free with a child's admission today from 2-5 at the Skatebox.

Monday, August 8th
Kirby Kids (for elementary school ages) meet today at 3:30 at the Bob Kirby Branch library.

The WKU Chess Club meets from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Log Cabin on the WKU Campus. All ages and skill levels are welcome.  Questions, call 918-809-6278. You may want to bring your chess set.

The Fraternal Order of Police sponsors Ballroom Dance Lessons at 150 Corvette Drive at 7 - 8 p.m. The cost is  $7.00 per person. 782-5425.

Friday, August 12th
The Bowling Green Gallery Hop is today from 5-8 p.m. Make sure to visit the Pots Place at 528 East Main street on the square. They will have special treats there for visitors donated by Mariah's. This is the Second Saturday Street Fair downtown in beautiful Fountain Square. Come downtown and visit all the shops and relax in the Square.

10/01/11 Smiths Grove Presbyterian Church and Evans Law Office 5K and 2 mile walk at North Warren Elementary School in Smiths Grove, KY on Saturday, October 1st , 2011. Version D / 2011 events in and around Bowling Green, Kentucky for January 2-8

Hi to everyone.

Here are more cheap and free things to do this week in the Bowling Green area and near Bowling Green, Kentucky. I have selected just a few events to list here.

I added another event today (Thursday). JUST ADDED: Downton Abbey premieres Sunday on PBS Masterpiece Theater. You can get it even with just basic cable. It is bound to be good. Check it out here.  Twitter will have a live event during the showing. Just post to twitter using the tag #DowntonPBS.

What's Happening this week: From the WBKO Community Events Calendar: Art Works Exhibit 8:30 am - 4 pm, The Presbyterian Church, 10th St. Entrance, 10th and State Sts., Bowling Green, KY. The Presbyterian Church Gallery is presenting the Third Annual Artworks Exhibit featuring a variety of works by members of Artworks Inc., an organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing visual art in the community...The exhibit may be viewed by the public in the church gallery, 10th Street entrance, Mon. to Fri. 8:30am to 4:00pm. Chaney's Dairy Barn is starting to serve breakfast items this month.  270-843-5567.

Lost River Cave's hours this month are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Gift Shop is open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tours of the Cave are at the top of each hour.

Wednesday, January 5th

A Chili Cookoff is being held at 6 p.m at the St. James United Methodist Church at 575 Winfield Drive, BG. This is near Keriakes Park. Call for details at 842-4949. Bring chili or sample chili. Awards will be given too.


A free computer class, Intermediate Computers and the Internet is being held from 6-7 p.m. at the Main Branch library Porter Cafe. You must call to pre-register at 781-4882.
