Monday, October 18th:
The Northern Heights - Parker Bennett community will have a Chili Supper today at 6:30 p.m. This is part of the Celebrate Safe Communities events. See this website for more information.
Also, the BG Presbyterian Church Gallery will feature two jewelry makers today from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., Kay Zoretic and Debbie Modin. 842-4162.

Tuesday, October 19th:
Today will be a WKU Technology Expo at the Mass Media and Technology Hall. Pay parking will be available in front of Diddle arena today. Free tours, Mammoth Cave movie showings, and tours of the TV studio will be offered. Find out more: http://www.wku.edu/techexpo/.

A free adult computer class is held today from 2-3 p.m. at the Kirby Branch library. The class is Mac for Beginners. You must pre-register to take the class by calling 782-0252.
Another computer class for adults is at 2-3 p.m. at the BG Main Library. It is Email Basics. You must pre-register at 781-4882.
Yet another computer class, Facebook Intermediate, is held at 6-7 p.m. at the BG Main Library. Pre-register by calling 781-4882.
The After-School Special is at 3:30 for students of all ages at the Graham Drive community branch library. Call 781-1441 for details.
Thursday, October 21st

(from the mailer postcard) 4-6 p.m., the BG Main library at 1225 State Street will hold a Legislative "Meet and Greet" reception and Proclamation Signing for Friends of Libraries Week. Share your library stories with political candidates and community leaders.
 Right after this, John Carter Cash will have a presentation as part of the library's My Life is an Open Book series at 6:00 p.m. (He is the son of Johnny and June Carter Cash). Free tickets to this are available at the Main library and also at the Kirby branch. "Sponsored by the MAMMOTH CAVE REGIONAL HORSE COUNCIL, The Mane Event is an exciting horse event to be held at the Western Kentucky University Ag Center in Bowling Green on OCTOBER 16th, starting at 9:00 AM.  The first Mane Event was held in 2009, and attracted over 400 people! This is a unique event in South Central Kentucky, and offers not just horse owners but also the general public an opportunity to learn and be entertained by horse-oriented programs and acts.

Things happening this month: Chaney's Corn Maze (open during regular business hours through the month, Mon.-Sat. 11 a.. - 8 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.), and the Jackson's Orchard pumpkin festival.
Also: Bustin' Out - this event by the American Cancer Society is to increase awareness and help try to find a cure for Breast Cancer. People are encouraged to bring a bra (new or gently used), with a $5.00 donation, to these drop off points: WK Diagnostic Imaging, the American Cancer Society, or Service One Credit Union by October 11th or sooner. More details follow about the event (like the Bra-Morial unveiling on October 12th and the Club at Olde Stone event later in the month.

The Lost River Cave Civil War: Living History Days is back October 22-24, 2010 at Lost River Cave and Valley. This is a free event. Make sure to bring earplugs if you go when they will be firing a cannon. Just saying. They have many great photo opportunities there. Bustin' Out - this event by the American Cancer Society is to increase awareness and help try to find a cure for Breast Cancer. People are encouraged to bring a bra (new or gently used), with a $5.00 donation, to these drop off points: WK Diagnostic Imaging, the American Cancer Society, or Service One Credit Union. Then On October 19th at the Club at Olde Stone, 20 crafters and artists will have decorated bras on sale along with baskets and other prizes. Tickets will be $25.00 for that event, and you can buy them at the American Cancer Society office at 952 Fairview. Reservations are required.
