Events in the Bowling Green, Kentucky area Aug. 14-21.

Fun things to do in the Bowling Green, Ky area August 14th - 21st.
The Main Library is closed through the 17th due to renovations. The other branches are open.

Sunday, August 14th

The Capital Arts theater  at 416 East Main downtown shows Les Miserables today at 3 p.m., presented by the Capital Arts Youth Theater. Tickets are $15.00 for adults, $10.00 for students, and $6.00 for children 12 and under.
The Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 807 Campbell Lane has their annual Ice Cream Social, Cake Walk, and Cake Auction today from 4-6 p.m. 781-3295. 

WhaBah Steakhouse has a live Blues Jam from 6-10. 782-6400.
Monday, August 15th
CASA has their spring Training starting today at Christ Episcopal Church next to the Main Library at 6-9 p.m. The classes are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks. Find out more: 782-5353. You can also apply at their website here: http://www.casaofsck.org.

The Bob Kirby Branch Library has Toddler Time today at 9:30 a.m. Toddler Time is for kids ages 18-36 months. 782-0252.

Tuesday, August 16th
Today if you eat at certain restaurants, you can support United Way from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. This event is the Dine-A-Round. Find out more: http://www.liveunitedtoday.com. From their Facebook page: "United Way's 5th Annual Dine-A-Round is August 16th. Dine at The Catfish House, The Bistro, O'Charley's, Mariah's, Griff's Deli, Holiday Inn University Plaza Cafe, or Earl G Dumplin's (Scottsville) and 10% of the day's proceeds will benefit those in need in Southern Kentucky! What a great excuse to go out to eat!"

A fundraiser for Rhonda St. Charles is today from 4 p.m. until ? at the Keller Williams Realty Office. The proceeds will go to pay for funeral expenses.


SKyPAC is having a Hard Hat Tour today at 4 p.m. They also have another on Thursday. You must pre-register to attend. Call 393-0080.

Wednesday, August 17th
Use promo code "JDW" to purchase tickets for the Bowling Green Hot Rods today on Military Recognition Day and help support J.D. Williams, an injured Fort Campbell soldier from Auburn. Tickets are $10.00 each. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Bowling Green Ballpark. 901-2121.

The Special Olympics Bowling Practice and Sign-ups are from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. at Southern Lanes.  Bowling Practice will be every Wednesday. Call to find out more: 393-3265 or 393-3480.

Graham Troopers (for school-age students) meets at 3 p.m. at the Graham Drive community branch library. 781-1441.

The Smiths Grove branch library has Wonderful Wednesday from 3-4 for Kindergarten age through 6th grade.

Thursday, August 18th
The State Fair in Louisville starts today, and goes on until the 28th.

This is Teen Thursday at the Graham Drive library at 5 p.m. (for grades 6-12) 781-1441.

Annie, Jr. plays at 7 p.m. at the Public Theater of Kentucky at 545 Morris Avenue, put on by the Sunburst Youth Theatre. Call 781-6233 for reservations.

Friday, August 19th
There are Concerts in the Park today from 6:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. in Fountain Square Park and Circus Square Park in Bowling Green. 782-0222.

A Refuse to be a Victim class is from 9-1 today at the Health and Wellness Center at Greenwood Mall. It costs $20.00 to attend and you must pre-register by calling 745-0942. A safety handbook is included.

A free computer class, Exploring Gadgets, is held from 6-7 p.m. at the Main Branch Library's Porter Cafe. You must pre-register to attend and bring your own laptops and/or digital devices.

St. James United Methodist Church at 575 Winfield Drive is offering Community Education classes at 6:30 p.m. Call for more information at 842-4949.
