Wednesday, July 6
A free computer class is today from 2-3 p.m. at the Main Branch library. It is Email for Beginners. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

Thursday, July 7th
The Bowling Green League of Bicyclists has an easy ride today starting at Kereiakes Park at 6 p.m. You must wear a helmet.  http://www.bglob.com.

A free show, Venus: Our Sister Planet, is at 7 p.m. at the WKU Hardin Planetarium. Seating is first-come, first served. 745-4044.

A free computer class, Beginning Your Resume, is at 6 p.m. at the Main Branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

The Graham Drive Library has live animals today as part of ZooFari Earth at 1:00 p.m. 781-1441.

A free yoga class is offered at the Unity Church of Bowling Green at 6 p.m. The class is free, but a freewill offering for the instructor is appreciated.

SkyPac has a Hard Hat Tour today at 4 p.m. You must have a reservation to attend. Call 393-0060.

The WKU Chess Club meets from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Log Cabin on the WKU Campus. All ages and skill levels are welcome.  Questions, call 918-809-6278. You may want to bring your chess set.

Friday, July 8th
The WHAS Crusade for Children is today from 11:30 to 1:15 at 916 State Street (in front of The Gallery at 916). http://www.whascrusade.org.

J.J. Strucker will give a demonstration of Karate and Jujitsu today at the Main Branch library at 3 p.m. for all ages. 781-4882.

The National Corvette Museum has a Collector Car Appreciation Day today from 10 am. - 7 p.m. Activities today are free. Owners of collector cars get $2.00 off admission. They also will have door prizes. A parade will come to Fountain Square from the Museum starting at d:30. Find out more: 781-7973. Saturday, July 9th
Kiwanis Yoga in the Park is today at 8:00 a.m. (for adults) and 9:15 for families with children at Keriakes Park behind the Shelter. 782-6984.

The Rocky Mountain Horse Association has their Tavares Championship today starting at 9 a.m. at the AG Expo Center. Admission is free for the public.

The Richard Davenport Memorial Scholarship Fund for Therapeutic Riding has a ride from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Harley-Davidson of BG today. Call 796-5039.

Hobson Grove is sponsoring a Victorian Needlecraft Workshop for Children from 1-3:30 p.m. You must pre-register to attend. Call 843-5565.

Chaney's has Ice Cream and a Moovie tonight at dusk. This week's movie is How to Train Your Dragon. Bring lawn chair(s) and/or a blanket.

Sunday, July 10th
A free show, Venus: Our Sister Planet, is at 2 p.m. at the WKU Hardin Planetarium. Seating is first-come, first served. 745-4044.

Monday, June 20th
The 4-H Horse Show is today at the Ag-Expo Center. This event goes on until Wednesday. Find out more: 4H Horse Show.

Dance Arts has a Day Camp starting today and going until June 24th. It is "Bieber Fever". Find out more: 842-6811. http://www.danceartsbg.com.

Chaney's Dairy Barn has tours today. Find out more at the "More Stuff for June" page.

The Historic Railpark has a Hobo Quilts show and book signing starting at 10 a.m. today. (10-12 and 1-2). 745-7317. This is a free event.

There is a Chinese Dragon Demonstration by Shaolin Kung-Fu at 6:00 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal church next to the Main Library. 781-4882.

A free computer class, MS Excel Advanced, is at 6-7:30 p.m. at the Main Branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

The Hobo Ball is tonight from 6-9 p.m. at the L & N Depot. 745-7317.Tickets are $15 each or 2 for $25.00. You must reserve your space. Call 745-7317.

Kentucky Blues Society has their Teen Jam from 6-9 at Wha Bah Steakhouse. Free admission. 782-6400.

Tuesday, June 21st
Today is Litha/the Summer Solstice. It is the longest day of the year.

The 4-H Horse Show continues today at the Ag-Expo Center. This event goes on until Wednesday. Find out more: 4H Horse Show.

"Venus, Our Sister Planet" is playing at the WKU Hardin Planetarium at 7 p.m. There is no charge, and it is first-come, first served seating.

Wednesday, June 22nd
The 4-H Horse Show's last day is today at the Ag-Expo Center starting at 9 a.m. Find out more: 4H Horse Show.

There is a Concert in the Park at Fountain Square Park today featuring Noizejoi starting at noon. Bring a picnic and chairs! The concert is free. 782-0222.

The Graham Branch public library is having Graham Troopers today for school students at 3 p.m. They will be doing Magna Drawing.

A free computer class, Introduction to Genealogy Resources, is from 6-7 p.m at the Main Branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

St. James United Methodist Church at 575 Winfield Drive is hosting a book discussion at 6:30 p.m. about "Heaven is Real" by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent. The public is welcome.

Thursday, June 23rd

The musical "Oliver" by Fountain Square Players is at the Phoenix Theater for a School Day performance today at 9:30 a.m.  Call for tickets: 782-3119.

A free MacBook computer class is also today at the Bob Kirby Branch library from 6-7 p.m. You must pre-register to attend. Call 782-0252.

Warren RECC is having their Annual Meeting today at 4:30 p.m. at Greenwood High School. The business meeting is at 6:30 p.m. They will be giving away a free bucket and light bulbs, and will have face painting for kids.

Saturday, June 25th
Crosswinds Golf Course has a Pickens Amateur Championship today. Call them at 270-393-3559 for more information.

The Kiwanis Club is sponsoring Yoga in the Park with Shanda starting at 8 a.m. in Keriakes Park behind the shelters. 9:15 starts Playground Yoga for preschoolers and their families.
Sunday, June 26th

The Red Cross has a training for volunteers today at 430 Center Street called Providing Emergency Assistance from 8-5 p.m. Call to sign up at 781-7377.

The Annual Butterfly Celebration is today at Lost River Cave and Valley's Charles M. Miller Butterfly Habitat. The first 100 children to arrive get to release a butterfly into the habitat. Many other activities are planned. 393-0077.

Find 6 squirrels at participating shops in Fountain Square through the 31st of May and win a big, big Surprise Basket filled with neat things. Just find 6 squirrels at shops downtown.

From Graphic Design to Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Weaving, Ceramics and Sculpture, this group exhibition, co-sponsored and hosted by the Kentucky Library and Museum, presents the work of the Department of Art’s Seniors graduating in the Spring of 2011. Saturday, May 14: Closing Reception".


Isabelle Barbuzza is having her an exhibition through May 13th at the WKU Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center Main Gallery. 745-3944.

Today is Mother's Day.

Ryan's is having a Mother's Day Buffet from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.

Rockin' B Horse and Carriage Company has carriage rides today for Mother's Day on Fountain Square in downtown Bowling Green today. The first 25 mothers will receive a free ride and a yellow rose. Other riders are $5.00 for adults and $1.00 for children 13 and under accompanied by a paying adult. Call 792-3838 for more information.

Parents skate free today from 2-5 p.m. with paid admission of child at The Skatebox. 843-3394.

Super Sunday Bowling is today, and the public is invited. This event is at REDZ, 4th floor at WKU's Downing University Center. Call for info: 745-5794.

The International Barrel Racing Association has their 2011 Kentucky Spring Extravaganza continuing today, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the WKU Ag-Expo Center. Church service is at 8:30 a.m. and classes start at 10 a.m. Call 745-3976 for more information.

Micki's on Main also has a Mother's Day Buffet from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. You must have reservations to attend. Call 793-0450.

This is Rainhill Equine Rescue Facility's Visitor's Tour Day from 1-4 p.m. This Facility is at 11125 Kentucky Highway 185. 270-777-3164.

A Bark in the Park WKU Baseball Game is today at 1 p.m. at Nick Denes Field, WKU.  Bring clay cat litter, bleach, 8 1/2 x 11 copy paper, or Clorox wipes and get free admission to the game. "Bring your leashed dog out and help support the Tops!

Monday, May 9th
The BG League of Bicyclists have 3 lengths of rides today, 8, 20, and 44 miles. Helmets are required. The rides begin at Chaney's Dairy Barn. Bikes will be parked in the grassy lot in back. For more info. see http://www.BGLOB.com.
 
WhaBah Steakhouse has another Kentucky Blues Society Teen Jam from 6-9 p.m. The whole family is invited. 782-6400.

Terri Blackstock, author, will speak at 6 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church Activity hall which is next door to the Main branch library. You must have a ticket, which is free at any Warren County Library branch.  
 
A program called "No Bars" takes place at 5:30 p.m. It includes a Jail Tour. From the SOKY Happenings page: "This program focuses on breaking the cycle of incarceration among youth." The program is for 12-18 year olds in Bowling Green and nearby counties. Contact the 11th Street Baptist Church for more info. at 842-4911 or to sign up.

Today the Southern Kentucky Letter Carriers take canned soup, canned vegetables, peanut butter or cereal (other other non-perishables) when you leave them next to your mailbox. Help Stamp Out Hunger!
 
NAMI has a pancake breakfast fundraiser at Culver's on Scottsville Road from 7-10 a.m. Pancakes and bacon are $5.00 and milk is $1.00. http://www.nami.org.
 
The Second Saturday Street Fair is today downtown on Fountain Square from 9-3. 782-0222. http://www.downtownbg.org. This event will have Snow cones, Hawaiian ice, face painting, booths, music, balloon twisting, inflatables for the kids, and more.

So you know, all-day passes that include everything except go-carts and games are 29.99 for adults and 25.99 for children under 54 inches and seniors any size.

The SoKy Happenings Magazine reminds everyone there is one week left to register to vote before the May primary.  High school students may register at school now, others at the County Clerk or Circuit Clerk/Driver's License offices.

CASA training takes place this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Help young people by training to be their advocate. Find out more by calling 782-5353 or going to their site at http://www.casaofsck.org.

The Adult Softball League registration deadline is Friday, April 15th. Call Parks and Rec. at 393-3249 for more info. Fee is $425.00 per team. Games start May 2nd.

A Warren County Senior Dance and Potluck happens from 6-9 p.m. at the Warren County Senior Center at 200 East 4th Street, with entertainment by Wade Phillips. This is a Community Action event, and all proceeds benefit Senior Center Enrichment activities. “Bring a covered dish, dance, or just enjoy the musical entertainment.” Tickets are $5.00 and available at the Senior Center.

A WKU Steel Band Concert is at 7:30 p.m. at the WKU Fine Arts Center (FAC) Recital Hall. Tickets are only $4.00 a person. 745-3751.
