Events in the Bowling Green Kentucky area Fri. - Mon. August 16 - 20, 2012

This is such an exciting week for Bowling Green. 

The most exciting thing going on, I think, is Friday, when American Idol comes to town at Fountain Square Park.

Friday, August 17
Big News - The American Idol bus is in downtown Bowling Green today on Fountain Square. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. (Note the earlier time!) 
The event goes on until 4 p.m.
Find out more at the Daily News article. Police will be on hand to help you find a parking spot. Check the American Idol website also for information at the Small Town Bus Tour page.

A free computer class is today from 10-11 a.m., Facebook for Beginners, at the Smiths Grove branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 563-6651.
The AARP meets today from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church. The meeting is a potluck. Call for more info: 782-0712.
Tonight is Concerts in the Park! NOTE CHANGE: the Concerts have both been moved to Circus Square with sound from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (Because of American Idol - this will cut down on squishiness!)
The Public Theatre of Kentucky presents Honk! Jr.: the Musical at 7 p.m. tonight at the Phoenix Theater at 545 Morris Alley. Tickets are 8 and 10 dollars.

There is a Garden Party at the Cave... which cave? Lost River Cave. This will benefit the BGWC Humane Society. Tickets are $40.00 each. More info: 783-9404. 
Saturday, August 18
Be looking for some neat pictures and stories of the American Idol day yesterday today - - in many local news stations and of course in the Daily News. I will be watching the news for sure, and reading the newspaper.

Here are some more events for today:
Geocachers are invited to Basil Griffin Park for International Geocaching Day, from 6-7 p.m. at Picnic Shelter #1. Everyone is invited - meet other geocachers, and learn about geocaching. 270-779-6814.
The Public Theatre of Kentucky presents Honk! Jr.: the Musical at 7 p.m. tonight at the Phoenix Theater at 545 Morris Alley. Tickets are 8 and 10 dollars.

Sunday, August 19
Russell Sims Aquatic Center is the location for the 2012 Bowling Green Sprint Triathlon today starting at 8 a.m. Find out more and how to register here: http://www.triathlon.ggclinic.com.

Lost River Cave is having a free class today called Introduction to Geocaching at 1-3 p.m. at the Lost River Cave River Birch Room. Find out more: 393-0077 and the Lost River Cave Events page.

Monday, August 20
The Main Branch library is offering a free computer class today, Microsoft Excel Advanced, from 6-7:30 p.m. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.
The Hot Rods baseball team plays tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the BG Ballpark. 901-2121. See the BG Hot Rods Baseball web page here.
The Corvette City Bop and Dance Club meets every Monday at the Fraternal Order of Police for adults age 21 and over. Find out more: 991-4040.

Russell Sims Aquatic Center has a Lap Swim tonight from 7-9 p.m. The cost is $4.00. More info: 393-3271.

Friday, June 8th, 2012
The Warren County Extension office is having Dairy Day today from 9-12 noon with lots of activities. Registration is $10.00 Call 842-1681 for more info.

A free computer class, Introduction to Genealogy Resources, is today at 10 a.m. to noon at the Main branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

Chaney's Dairy Barn has Tours today - - cost is $7.00. You must book in advance:843-5567.

Barnes and Noble bookstore is having a Book Fair to support BRIMS today at 1 p.m. Find out more:
746-9779.

Riders in the Sky perform tonight at SKyPAC at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 to $17.

Saturday, June 9th
Today is the Second Saturday Street Fair from 9-3 or 5 in downtown Bowling Green, Kentucky all around Fountain Square Park. Lots of booths will be there, food, activities for the kids, music, and much more. Find out more at their Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/SecondSaturdaysBG.

The Pots Place at 428 East Main Street will be open with lots of fun pottery and art to see. Come by to visit!

The Historic RailPark and Train Museum has RailTales at 10 a.m. for preschoolers.

Live near or in Scottsville? Andee Rudloff has a mural painting in Scottsville today which you can participate in. Just go to Have 4 Change at 49 Hillview Drive in Scottsville.

The Cavemen Barbershop Chorus performs at 7 p.m. at South Warren High School tonight. Tickets are $12. in advance and $15. at the door. Find out more: 270-202-0515.

Octagon Hall on Nashville Road is the site of a Ghost Hunt Weekend live at 4 p.m. Tickets are $225.00. SyFy Channel Ghost Hunters will be there. Tickets are limited - call 1-800-604-9101.

Chaney's Dairy Barn is giving a benefit for Josh Thomas, who was in a car accident, at 4-8 p.m. today. Call for info: 843-5567.

The Aviation Heritage Park is having a Hangar Party today at the Warren County Regional Airport starting at 6i p.m. Music starts at 8. Tickets are $30.00 for adults and $15.00 for ages 6-12.

Sunday, June 10th
