Events in the BG, KY area Monday - Friday, September 10-15, 2012

Monday, September 10th
Today the Bowling Green Retirement Village's Art for the Ages Art show continues. 842-5433.

A free computer class, Email for Beginners, is today from 2-3 at the Main branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

Another free computer class is today, Microsoft Excel Basics, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Main Branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

The Smiths Grove Branch library also has a free computer class today,  Learn to Pinterest, from 6-7:30 p.m. You must pre-register to attend. Call 563-6651.

The Corvette City Bop and Dance Club for ages 21 and over meets tonight from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. at the F.O.P. Call 991-4040 for more info. New dancers are welcome.


Tuesday, September 11th
Today the Bowling Green Retirement Village's Art for the Ages Art show continues. 842-5433.

The National Corvette Museum has a travelling exhibit that tells stories and has photos and more about 9-11. It is called The World Trade Center: Rescue, Recovery, Response. The Museum is "$10 Adults, $8 Seniors, $5 Youth (6-16), Under 6 Free, Family (same household) $25, Active Military Free. Various discounts and coupons available. Group rates offered for 15 or more people."

The South Central Kentucky Coalition on Homelessness meets at 9 a.m. at the ALIVE Center.

The Graham Drive community library has a Mac Lab today from 3-5 p.m. Call for more info: 781-1441.

A free computer class, Computing for Seniors, is today at 6-7 p.m. at the Main branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

The WKU Hardin Planetarium has a free presentation at 7 p.m. about NASA's Rover on Mars. It is first-come, first-served seating. 745-4044.


Wednesday, September 12th

The Learn Chinese with Me lessons sponsored by the Confucious Institute start today at 10:30 a.m. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

A free computer class, Genealogy for Beginners, is at the Bob Kirby Branch library today at 2 p.m. You must pre-register to attend. Call 782-0252.

Another free computer class is today Job Hunting Online. It is at the Main Branch library from 6-7 p.m. You must pre-register to attend. all 781-4882.


Thursday, September 13th
Today the Bowling Green Retirement Village's Art for the Ages Art show continues. 842-5433.

A free computer class is today, Introduction to Computers and the Internet, from 2-3 at the Main branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

The Parade of Homes starts today from 5-8. Tickets are $10.00 with 12 and under free. Find out more: 781-3375. http://www.bascky.com/newsite/index.php. This event continues until the 16th.

The WKU Chess Club meets today at 6 p.m. at the Faculty House. 918-809-6278. You may want to bring your chess set.

Friday, September 14th

Today the Bowling Green Retirement Village's Art for the Ages Art show continues. 842-5433.

The Festival of Sand is today from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 6:00 at the grass lot behind the Chamber of Commerce, Bowling Green. Find out more: http://visitbgky.com/events/detail/festival-of-sand/. This is a fundraiser for Kids on the Block.

A free computer class is today, Introduction to Computers and the Internet, from 10-11 a.m. at the Smiths Grove branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 563-6651.

Cabaret for a Cause is tonight at 8 p.m. at the Phoenix Theater at 545 Morris Alley, to raise money for the Catherine Heltsley Foundation for Breast Cancer. 781-6233.

A 55 and Over Senior Dance and Potluck is tonight from 6-9 p.m. at the Old Alvaton Gymnasium off Highway 231 in Alvaton. Music will be by Wayde Phillips. More info: 270-318-4514.

A free concert featuring a Violin and Piano duo, featuring Ching-Hi Lin and Graciella Kowalczyk,  is tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the WKU  Van Meter Auditorium.

"9/15/12 The “Running For St. Jude 5K and 1 Mile Walk" will be on September 15th At Phil Moore Park Alvaton, Ky. Registration starting at 7:30 am. With races following afterwards at 8:00 for the 5K run and 8:30 the 1 Mile Walk. The cost is $20 for the run and $15 for the walk. You can register online at active.com or stop by Trax Running to pick up a registration form. For more information please call: Marshall at 270-991-3936."

"9/21/12 Jody Richards Elementary School, Bowling Green, Ky. will he having their Fall Festival on September 21st from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. There will be inflatables and lots of games. BBQ and other goodies will be available and all funds raised will help pay for a new playground. For more information please call Katie Frassinelli at 270-792-7228."

"9/22/12 The South Central Kentucky Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be Saturday, September 22nd at Preston Miller Park, Bowling Green, Ky. Registration will begin at 9:00 am and the walk will begin at 10:00. Register your team online by visiting www.alz.org."

"9/29/12 The 2012 Out Of The Darkness Community Walk , Walk to Prevent Suicide , for Bowling Green will be on Saturday, September 29th at 9:00 am at Phil Moore Park, Alvaton, Ky. For more Information call: Darrell Traugber at 270-784-0960 and check out the website at www.outofthedarkness.org."

September 29th is also the International Festival.
