Bowling Green Hot Rods Baseball has special events during the week this summer. In April they have MinitMart Mondays, All-you-can-eat Tuesdays, Wild Wednesdays, Thrifty Thursdays, Fun Fridays, and Saturday Fireworks. Find out more at http://www.bghotrods.com.

The Wild Bird and Nature store at 901 Lehman Avenue has an Herb Festival Thursday, April 28 – Sunday May 8th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

From the Riverview Museum shop Facebook site: (for Riverview at Hobson Grove) "A Mother's Day Sale in the Riverview Museum Shop will run Sunday, May 1 through Sunday, May 8.  Select merchandise will be on sale including purses, aprons, hand towels, and other gift items for your mother, favorite aunt or friend.  For information, please call Riverview at 843-5565.  Riverview is located at 1100 West Main Avenue in Bowling Green's Hobson Grove Park.  Closed Mondays. May Squirrels in the Square:
Find 6 squirrels at participating shops in Fountain Square through the 31st of May and win a big, big Surprise Basket filled with neat things. Just find 6 squirrels at shops downtown.

"Kentucky Museum, April 15 – May 14, Department of Art Spring Graduating Seniors Exhibition
From Graphic Design to Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Weaving, Ceramics and Sculpture, this group exhibition, co-sponsored and hosted by the Kentucky Library and Museum, presents the work of the Department of Art’s Seniors graduating in the Spring of 2011. Saturday, May 14: Closing Reception".


Isabelle Barbuzza is having her an exhibition through May 13th at the WKU Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center Main Gallery. 745-3944. 

The Graduating Art Seniors from WKU have their exhibit April 15th through May 14th at the Kentucky Museum. 745-3944.

Anthony Wycihowski photos will be shown at the Bob Kirby Branch Library this month.

Sunday, May 1st

The Baker Chamber players play at 3 p.m. today at the Downing Museum at the Baker Arboretum. More info: http://www.bgwso.org/index.htm.  A reception will follow. Tickets are $50.00 per person, and seating is limited to 50 people.

The play Driving Miss Daisy is at 8:00 p.m. at the Public Theater of Kentucky. 781-6233.

This is Celebrity Scoop day at Chaney's Dairy Barn from 1-4 p.m.  This event benefits St. Jude's Children's hospital.

An Evening of Dance (afternoon performance) is today at Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center (FAC) Russell Miller Theater at 3-5 p.m. For more info, contat Doris.Patrick@wku.edu.

Monday, May 2nd
A free computer class, MS Excel Basics, is 6-7:30 p.m. at the Main Branch library tonight. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.
 
From the WCVK Community Happenings page: "5/2/11 "Aprons don’t hold us back, they take us back”. The UT Extension & Sumner County Family & Community Education Clubs Present the first “Apron Extravaganza”, 10a-5pm May 6th and 7th at the brand new EPIC Centre, 392 West Main Street, Gallatin, TN. This 2 day event features an Apron Contest with 10 categories, including Family/Heirloom Aprons, Barbecue / Grilling Aprons (for Dads) & Favorite Holiday Aprons. Special guest Luncheon Speaker is EllynAnne Geisel, essayist, apron expert and apron archaeologist from Colorado seen on CBS Good Morning Show, with articles in Country Living, Cooking with Paula Deen, Southern Lady, Country Woman magazines, etc. Due to limited seating, Luncheon with EllynAnne tickets must be purchased by May 2nd. A Kentucky Blues Society Teen Jam is held today from 6-9 p.m. at WhaBah Steakhouse, and families are invited.  A prize drawing is at 8:00 p.m.

WKU's Evening of Dance is tonight at 8:00 at the Russell Miller Fine Arts Theater. Tickets are $10.00 per person.745-5845. Another performance is tomorrow night.

Tuesday, May 3rd
A free computer class, Computing for Seniors, is at 9 a.m. at the Main Branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.
 
The Main Branch library also has a Mother and Daughter Stories and Craft Time event at 6:00. For ages 4 and up. You must pre-register to attend. Contact Stephanie at 781-4882 extension 212.
 
Hardin Planetarium is showing "Solar System Wonder" at 7 p.m. This is a free event, with first come first served seating. 745-2824.
 
WKU's Evening of Dance is tonight at 8:00 at the Russell Miller Fine Arts Theater. Tickets are $10.00 per person.745-5845.

Wednesday, May 4th

Last Chance to Dance is today at 4:00 p.m. at Russell Miller Theater Fine Arts Center. This is a free event, featuring WKU Dance Students. 745-5845.

A free computer class, Coupons 101 is at 6:00 p.m. tonight at the Main Branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

Thursday, May 5th
Today is Cinco de Mayo.

The Graham Branch library is holding a Teen Thursday today  at 5 p.m. They will be having a Cinco de Mayo Party. Call 781-1441 for more information.
The Main Branch library has a High Five Kids Club meeting today at 4 p.m. for K-5th grade students. They will make a glider and kite and listen to a story about things that fly. 781-4882.

A free computer class, Intermediate Computers and the Internet is at 6 p.m. at the Main Branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

WKU's Men's and Women's Chorus, the Chorale, the TrebleMakers, and the RedShirts are singing "An American Tapestry" at 7:30 p.m. at Van Meter Auditorium. Tickets are only $5.00 for adults, and $3.00 for students. Call for info: 745-3751.

The WKU Chess club meets from 6-9 p.m. at the WKU Faculty House for all skill levels. You may need to bring your own chess set. Call for more info: 918-809-6278. The public is welcome. http://www.hilltopperchess.net.

Solar System Wonders is showing at the WKU Hardin Planetarium. This is a free event, and first-come first served when it comes to seating.


Friday, May 6th
Barnes and Noble is sponsoring a storytime and hands-on experiments, "Wonders of Water" presented by BGMU at 11:30 a.m. The book is "Magic School Bus at the Waterworks." Call for info: 746-9779. This event is also being presented tomorrow.

A free MacBook class, Overdrive Digital Catalog, is today from 2-3 p.m. at the Bob Kirby branch library. You must pre-register to attend. call 782-0252.

The Bob Kirby branch library also has Teen Scene today at 3:30 p.m.

The International Barrel Racing Association has their 2011 Kentucky Spring Extravaganza today starting at 4:00 p.m. at the WKU Ag-Expo Center. The show starts at 7:45 p.m. Call 745-3976 for more information.

Saturday, May 7th
Today is the Kentucky Derby.

Morris Jewelry at 408 East Main Street will have a Derby Party today from 9-6 with Refreshments and Appetizers. Call for info: 843-6103 or go to http://www.morrisjewelrybg.net.

The 17th Annual Mini Corvette Challenge is today starting at 9:30 a.m. at the National Corvette Museum. 782-0280. http://www.jaforkids.com

Chaney's Dairy Barn is sponsoring an Amazing Angels Benefit for Abigail and Alison Church. This event will include a craft bazaar. Proceeds will benefit the Church family. 270-392-0825. The benefit features family events, crafts, hay & pony rides, concessions, and silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the Church family, who lost their identical twin pre-mature girls to Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome. May 7th is also a Young Artist Alliance and Performance Troupe dance performance at Capital Arts benefiting Camp Courageous at 3:00 or 7:00. $5.00 admission.


From the WCVK Community Events page: "5/7/11 Mishpachah, Inc., an auditioned group of high students based out of Mason, Ohio, will present the musical drama performance of “Dead Serious…About Life” at Warren East High School, Bowling Green, May 7 at 6 p.m., and May 8 at 3 p.m. The musical deals with many of the issues teen face with teenage suicide as the underlying subject matter. Tickets are $8 in advance until May 5, $9 at the door, and available by calling 800-459-7268."


The Imagine Concert for the Exceptional is from 2-8 pm. at the Bowling Green Ball Park. Live music will be at the event. You must have a ticket to attend. 901-2121 or go to BGHOTRODS.COM to purchase tickets. This event is sponsored by the Bowling Green Hot Rods baseball team and also the Law Firm of Flora Templeton Stuart. Artists there will be Jimmy Needham, Beckah Shae, and Me in Motion.
 
Sunday, May 8th
Today is Mother's Day.

Ryan's is having a Mother's Day Buffet from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.

Rockin' B Horse and Carriage Company has carriage rides today for Mother's Day on Fountain Square in downtown Bowling Green today. The first 25 mothers will receive a free ride and a yellow rose. Other riders are $5.00 for adults and $1.00 for children 13 and under accompanied by a paying adult. Call 792-3838 for more information.

Parents skate free today from 2-5 p.m. with paid admission of child at The Skatebox. 843-3394.

Super Sunday Bowling is today, and the public is invited. This event is at REDZ, 4th floor at WKU's Downing University Center. Call for info: 745-5794.

Micki's on Main also has a Mother's Day Buffet from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. You must have reservations to attend. Call 793-0450.

This is Rainhill Equine Rescue Facility's Visitor's Tour Day from 1-4 p.m. This Facility is at 11125 Kentucky Highway 185. 270-777-3164.

A Bark in the Park WKU Baseball Game is today at 1 p.m. at Nick Denes Field, WKU.  Bring clay cat litter, bleach, 8 1/2 x 11 copy paper, or Clorox wipes and get free admission to the game. "Bring your leashed dog out and help support the Tops!

May 14th will be the Second Saturday downtown event for May, with Snow cones, Hawaiian ice, face painting, booths, music, balloon twisting, inflatables for the kids, and more.
Also May 14th is the Victorian Antique and Garden Festival from 9-4 at Hobson Grove.
May 2nd will be the first Apron Extravaganza.
May 20th WKU will officially open the Confucious Institute and the Chinese Learning Center.
May 21st is the Soap Box Derby.
May 21st is also a Vette City Roller Derby game. 
May 28th = the West Side Camp BBQ and Backyard Grilling Cook-Off
