Monday, September 20th
A free adult computer class is today at the BG Main library. Call 781-4882 to pre-register. This class will be about MS for Beginners.

BG Main library will also hold a Write Sketch Watch program for teens at 6:00. Call for more info. at 781-4882.

The WKU Chess club meets tonight at 6-9 p.m. at the Faculty House at WKU behind Cherry Hall at the log cabin. and is open to the public and all skill levels. Bring your own chess set.

Tuesday, September 21st
A Free adult computer class is at the Main Library at 6-7 p.m.: Introduction to Computers for Spanish Speakers. You must pre-register for this class. Call 781-4882.

Wednesday, September 22nd
is World Car-Free Day. If possible, do not drive today. (I just found out about this today on Facebook...) From the Facebook page: "Celebrate World Car-Free Day by going all day without driving or riding in a car. Take the bus, ride your bike, walk, stay at home, whatever you like as you go about your normal routine. Click on "Attending" (on the Facebook page here) if you are willing to give it a try. A free adult computer class "Explore Gadgets" is tonight at 6-7 p.m. at the BG Main Library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882 to pre-register.

An After-School Special will be held today for students of all ages at 3:30 p.m. at the Graham Drive Community Branch library, BG. Call 781-1441 for more information.

Thursday, September 23rd
The Holy Spirit Catholic Church will have a ribbon-cutting today sponsored by the BG Area Chamber of Commerce at 10:30 a.m. The site is 4754 Smallhouse Road (across from 3 Springs Park). 842-7777,

Two health screenings for men: (registration is required) You can get a Prostate Health exam if you are a man 40 years and older today at Physician's Specialty Center at 1325 Andrea, plus Greenview is also having a prostate-specific antigen testing today. The time for both of these events is 4-8 p.m. You must pre-register and get a reservation for this event by calling MedLine 800-242-5662. 

The Literary Cafe is open today at 5 p.m. For more info. on this, call 781-1441, the Graham Drive community branch library.

A Gardening with Wildflowers presentation is today at 6 p.m. at the Main Library, BG. Call 781-4882 for more info. No library card is required.

BG League of Bicyclists is having another "Easy Riders Ride" today at 6 p.m. Meet at Kereiakes Park. Suitable for all riders, this ride will be mostly flat and 1-2 miles. Find out more: 784-2836. Helmets are required.

A Fundraiser for Moss, Rockfield, Warren Elementary, and Warren Central's Family Resource Centers takes place today from 6-8 p.m. at The Skatebox skating facility. 843-3394.  A $4.00 admission fee will be charged.

Friday, September 24th
From WCVK Radio's Community Happenings page: "9/24/10 Christian Care Communities Senior Flu Clinic will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 716 Cave Mill Rd., Bowling Green, Sept. 24, 9-11 a.m. Paperwork will be filed for Medicare Part B recipients. Cost for all others is $25. For more information call 842-4343."

BGHS Class of 1985 Reunion is today at 5:00 at Indian Hills Country Club. BGHS vs. Trinity game follows.

Saturday, September 25th
From the WCVK Community Events site: "9/25/10 All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast benefiting South Warren Girls’ Soccer Team will be Sept. 25, 7-11 a.m. Tickets are $4 for pancakes, bacon & sausage, oj, and coffee. For more information call 320-6119."

Jackson's Orchard is having their Pumpkin Festival today from 8 am. - 6 p.m. Many activities.

The Historic Railpark and Train Museum is having an All Aboard talk today at 8:30 a.m. "Railroad Music - Part II" with Dr. Janet Bass Smith. Danish and coffee will be served. Find out more: 745-7317.

The BG International Festival is today from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Circus Square Park, 601 State Street in Bowling Green. This is a really fun event, and has food, music, and lots more. The National Corvette Museum is having a live Aauction and Truck Raffle Giveaway (tickets $5.00) today as part of Cruisin' for a Cure benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation from 12 p.m. - 7 p.m. Skip Bond and the Fugitive will play there at 1:00 p.m.  They will have many activities too. The Shaker Museum at South Union is having  Music in the Barn today from 2-5 p.m. The JMS Jazz Quartet and the Skip Cleavinger Band will play. Reservations and tickets are required for this event. The Twilight Thunder Cruise is Saturday, October 2nd. From The District event page: "On Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 6:30pm-9:00pm, the South Central Kentucky Kids on the Block will be hosting their annual Twilight Thunder Cruise. The event will start with a motor cycle parade from Harley Davidson to Circus Square Park. For more information call 270-842-2259."

The Bowling Green Gallery Hop is back on October 15th from 5-8 p.m. and Dec. 3rd.

John Carter Cash will be in Bowling Green on October 21st as part of the library's My Life is an Open Book series. Free tickets to this are available at the Main library and also at the Kirby branch. The Lost River Cave Civil War: Living History Days is back October 22-24, 2010 at Lost River Cave. This is a free event. Make sure to bring earplugs if you go when they will be firing a cannon. Just saying. They have many great photo opportunities there. Here is a photo from a Civil War Dresses booth I saw there in 2008: Civil War Dresses for Sale.
