This is the August 2010 - update #5.
Here are some fun events in and around Bowling Green, Kentucky for August. 
Note: they are not all free. 
I will be adding more (later events) this week too. 
Please be sure to check every event before attending, just in case. 
Some events require pre-registration.
Tuesday, August 24

From the Riverview at Hobson Grove site on Facebook:"Riverview at Hobson Grove is pleased to present the program "Nature's Bounty in Textiles" on Tuesday, August 24th at 11:30am. Sandy Staebell, the Registrar and Collections Curator at the WKU Kentucky Museum, will discuss how plants and animals interpret the glory of nature as design elements and pattern names in many historic textiles. Attendees have the opportunity to bring their own quilts and coverlets with natural themes to display and discuss afterwards. For further information, please call Riverview at 843-5565. $15 each. Reservations are required. Riverview is located at 1100 West Main Avenue in Bowling Green's Hobson Grove Park."

Thursday, August 26

Remember Care Group meeting, 4:30 p.m. Christian Health Center, 1800 Westen Street, BG. For people and families that have had Alzheimers or Dementia affect their lives. http://www.ChristianCareCommunities.org.

Literary Cafe. Graham Drive Community Branch library, a study hall where kids can come and do homework and also get help from tutors upon request. Find out more: 781-1441.  

BG League of Bicyclists Easy Riders ride. 6 p.m. Starts at Kereiakes Park. Helmets are required. Mostly flat 1-2 mile ride. Suitable for all riders and types of bicycles. http://www.bglob.com. Call 784-2836.

3rd Annual Delafield Homecoming Festival - Sugar Maple Square, BG. Live music, dancers, more. 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Find out more: Call Shirley Y. at 270-904-4063.

Beauty of the Railroad: Depot Architecture. Talk by Eileen Starr.  8:30 a.m. L & N Depot, BG. All Aboard Meeting. 

3rd Annual Down Syndrome Poker Run 9 a.m. $10 and $5 events, Hillvue Heights Church back parking lot on Nashville Road. Call Pam for more info. 792-3052.

Playground Yoga 9:15 a.m. - 10 a.m. for kids age 2-6 and their parents or grandparents. Kereiakes Park, behind the shelter, near the tennis courts. Donations to the Kiwanis Club accepted, but not required.

2nd Annual Family Fun Day with the WKU Football Team. Houchens-Smith Stadium, WKU. Many events. Free parking and admission. Concessions open. 745-6562. Balloon art, inflatables, face painting, more. Meet the Topperettes, the WKU Cheerleaders, and Big Red.

T.C. Cherry Dedication Ceremony. T.C. Cherry Elementary? Not sure of the location. 2:45 p.m. 

47th Annual Ice Cream Social at Christ United Methodist Church at 716 Cave Mill Road. Everyone is welcome. 842-4343 and 842-8762. Hot dogs, ice cream, inflatables, face painting, more. Adults $7, 12 and under $3.

Welcome Back WKU Festival - Companies will have booths set up at WKU's South Lawn today from 11-3. Western students probably can find some great freebies here. You can rent a booth for $150.00, contact the BG Chamber of Commerce at 781-3200.

Thursday, September 2nd

September 3 and 4 there will be Ice Cream and a Moovie, Over the Hedge, at Chaney's. 

Also: Keep the date: the International Festival is going to be held on September 25th, 9-7 at Circus Square Park.
