The WKU Chess Club meets today at 6 p.m. at the WKU Faculty House. This is open to the public. You may want to bring your chess set. Call for info: 1-918-809-6278.
From WKU News: Starry Tales for a Winter Night, a highly interactive experience designed to help you find your way around winter’s night skies, opens Dec. 27 at WKU’s Hardin Planetarium. The show is at 7 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served, and takes place 15 minutes before the show.

There is a Babysitting Clinic (you must pre-register to attend) at the Medical Center Health and Wellness Center today from 9-2 at Chandler Park. 745-0942.
There is a Tribute to Whitney Houston at 7:30 p.m. at the UAW Hall at 712 Plum Springs Loop as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Apollo Night (A Night at the Apollo). Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Call about tickets at BG Human Rights 782-7900, the Housing Authority of BG 843-6071 or Linda McCray, 781-5358.
A Jambodian Holiday Bash is also tonight and tomorrow night at the Sloan Convention Center to benefit the Son Rhea Foundation. Tickets are $15 and $25 for advanced tickets for Saturday. See the website for more info.

The Historic RailPark and Train Museum has an All Aboard! Series talk at 8:30 a.m. today about Trains of Discovery: the Making of the National Parks by Dave Spence. More info: 745-7317.
