If you are online at all, I'm sure this has happened to you.
You get a posting done, check your email, read an interesting article, or check Facebook, and all of a sudden something else occurs to you, like "Oh yeah! I like that blog. I need to sign up to get all his or her postings..." or "Yes, that is neat. I want to post it at (choose one) Google+, my blog(s), Facebook, Twitter, etc. etc."
So.. one simple checking of a site becomes checking multiple sites and sharing with others. Then you see another marvelous article and off you go again. And hang it up if you run into some useful petitions or Occupy postings. Of course, I must go sign said petition or share said article - - again.
What I used to do after that is keep on finding neat things and wanting to share them or take action. It is way fun, but not a great way to get my current work list done for the day.
So ::sigh:: I must quit doing that and get back to business. Like it's the first time? I don't think so.
So yes, working at home can be dangerous, and yes, the internet can be addictive, but I do think I learn a lot finding new factoids, sharing them, and talking about them!
