Fun things to do in the Bowling Green, Kentucky area this week, July 31st - August 6th

Here are selected events in the Bowling Green, Kentucky area for Sunday, July 31 through Saturday, August 6th.

Please double-check each event, just in case. 

FYI: the Main branch library will be closed for renovations from August 8 through the 21st for renovations. The other locations will be open. 

Look for more events to be listed in a few days.

Sunday, July 31
Beech Bend Raceway has NHRA Drag Racing today, starting at 12 noon. The gates open at 11. 781-7634.

WhaBah Steakhouse has a Kentucky Blues Jam from 6-10 p.m. 782-6400.
Monday, August 1
Today Chaney's Dairy Barn has Farm Tours at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. You must pre-register for them. Call 843-5567. Check the More Stuff Page on this blog for more info.

A free computer class, MS Excel Basics, is at 6-7:30 p.m. at the Main Branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.
Tuesday, August 2
SKyPAC is having a Hard Hat Tour today at 4 p.m. They also have another on Thursday. You must pre-register to attend. Call 393-0080.

A free computer class, MS Word for Beginners, is 2-3 p.m. at the BG Main library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4770.

Wednesday, August 3
A free computer class, Email for Beginners, is at the BG Main library from 6-7 p.m. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4770.

Thursday, August 4
SKyPAC is having a Hard Hat Tour today at 4 p.m. They also have another on Thursday. You must pre-register to attend. Call 393-0080.

Friday, August 5
Chaney's Dairy Barn has Ag Night from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. tonight. Enjoy hayrides, pony rides (fee required), and a youth coloring contest. 
Chaney's has Ice Cream and a Moovie at dusk, Dreamer (Ag Night). From their ad in the SoKy Happenings in July: "Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a moovie under the stars. Please no outside food or drink." 

The Gospel Troops will play at the Bowling Green Junior High Auditorium at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20.00 or $25.00 at the door from a Gospel Troop Member or at Giorgio's at the Greenwood Mall.

A free computer class, Intro to Mac Computers, is from 2-3 p.m. at the Bob Kirby Branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 782-0252. From their website: "Have a Macbook or an iMac but need help navigating its various features and programs? Well, this class is for you as we will go over accessing the Internet, saving and deleting files, and playing media files."

Saturday, August 6
 There is a Reptile Expo today through the weekend at the Knicely Center. From the WeGoPlaces website: "The Kentucky Reptile Expo is returning to Bowling Green!!! That’s right, we’re coming back Saturday, from 10am until 4pm at the Knicely Center at 2355 Nashville Road in Bowling Green, KY. Admission is $5.25 per person and kids 6 and under get in FREE. ...Exotic pets, food items and care products at wholesale price. "

Today Compton's Orthodontics on Lovers's Lane sponsors Alex's Lemonade Stand. Entertainment, giveaways, inflatables, more. "Fighting childhood cancer, one cup at a time." Join Compton's at their Facebook Page.

Today is the Grateful Gathering event at Wah Bah Steakhouse, rain or shine. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Kids 12 and under are free.  This is a benefit for the Son Rhea Foundation.

Fountain Square Park has Concerts in the Park tonight. Fountain Square park has Poison Karma at 6:30 - 9 p.m. and Circus Square Park has Exit 4 from 7:30 - 10 p.m.

August 13th is Second Saturday in downtown Fountain Square in Bowling Green. 
August 17th is a workshop at the ALIVE Center, Volunteer Recruitment and Retention. You must pre-register for this workshop.
August 18th, the Public Theater of Kentucky presents Annie Jr.
August 19, 20, and 21st is the 3rd Annual Newgrass Festival.
August 21 Dance Arts Sleeping Beauty ("come dressed as the Princess you are") 1-4 p.m. Show is limited to 40 participants. $15.00 for participating children with accompanying adult. $5.00 for observers, Ages 2.5 - 5 years. Call Jackie to pre-register at 270-467-8852.
