Hi to all!  I list weekly selected events, plus other things to do in the Bowling Green, Kentucky area and sometimes in Nashville or surrounding communities.

May and June Squirrels in the Square:
Find 6 squirrels at participating shops in Fountain Square through the 31st of each month and win a big, big Surprise Basket filled with neat things. Just find 6 squirrels at shops downtown.

Art Shows, Art Classes, and Exhibitions

The Gallery Hop in Bowling Green is coming up on June 4th from 5-8 p.m. Mark your calendar! 

Donn Mierti (photographer) has an exhibit at the Main Branch library in May in the Porter Cafe. 781-4882.

Anthony Wycihowski photos will be shown at the Bob Kirby Branch Library in May.


Photographs from Safe Haven will continue to be shown from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the ArtsAccess Gallery at 515 East 10th Ave., BG. Monday through Friday. 781-0872.

The VSA Arts Access Gallery is showing "The Artist Within" in May. They are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Today is Memorial Day.

Today at the ALIVE Center is a BabyNet/BabyWearing class from 5-7 p.m. This class is free, and will cover learning safe and soothing ways to "wear your baby from birth to toddlerhood." michelle.lifeisgood@gmail.com.

The Kentucky Blues Society has another TEEN JAM today from 6-9 p.m.  at WhaBah Steakhouse. The family is invited too. Free admission and prizes. 782-6400. 
 
Tuesday, May 31st
A free computer class, MS Excel Advanced, is today from 2 p.m to 3:30 p.m. at the Main branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

PJ Tales tonight at the Main branch library at 6 p.m. is all about beach stories. Also attendees of all ages wil make a sand-related craft.
Tonight at 7:00 p.m. is the Planetarium presentation at WKU's Hardin Planetarium. From the WBKO Community Calendar: "Venus: Our Sister Planet Summer Planetarium Presentation May 31, 2011 - Jul 10, 2011 Tues.& Thurs. 7 pm; Sunday 2 pm
Hardin Planetarium, Western Kentucky University
Known throughout history as the Morning Star, the Evening Star and named after the Roman Goddess of love and beauty, Venus has so much in common with the Earth that it is often called its "sister" or "twin". In this presentation new photographs and NASA footage will be used to explore the impact Venus has had throughout our history, discuss our current understanding of its composition and atmosphere and highlight NASA's plans for future missions - all aimed at determining if it will ever be possible for humans to live on Venus. For further information contact Dept. of Physics and Astronomy, Hardin Planetarium at 270-745-4044."

Thursday, June 2nd

A free event for boys and girls, the Hershey's Track and Field Meet is today starting at 9:30 a.m. This event is free. Birth Certificates are required. Various Events. BG High School, 393-3249.

Friday, June 3rd

June 3rd is the Gallery Hop (NOT Saturday the 4th).

Saturday, June 4th
June 4th is also the 20th Anniversary Bluegrass Draft Horse and Mule Championship at the Ag Expo Center. 

Today is also Lost River Cave's I Love BG Day. From their site:
"Saturday, June 4th - 'i love bg' day! Do the COOL thing and chill down in the cave for ‘i love bg’ day at Lost River Cave and Valley.  All day long  ½ Price admission to Kentucky’s only underground boat tour on Saturday, June 4th to all area residents.  Tours start at 9:00AM until 5:00PM running at the top of every hour on a first come-first served basis."

From the WCVK Community Happenings page: "06/04/11 Regional Child Development Clinics Golf Scramble at Crosswinds Golf Course, 1031 Wilkinson Trace, Bowling Green is Saturday June 4 th. Registration begins at 7:30AM with Shotgun at 8:00AM. For $70 per player or $280 per team you can help provide services to children birth through eight who are suspected of developmental delays. $500 for 1st place team, $300 to 2nd place team, awards for closest to the hole on #18, and longest drive on #10. June 4th the Barbership Chorus will sing at WKU's Van Meter Hall VMH Lobby at 7-10 p.m.

Sunday, June 5th

Today is parents Skate Free day at the Skatebox from 2-5 p.m. with paid child admission of $5.00.
