The SoKy Happenings Magazine reminds everyone there is one week left to register to vote before the May primary.  High school students may register at school now, others at the County Clerk or Circuit Clerk/Driver's License offices.


CASA training takes place this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Help young people by training to be their advocate. Find out more by calling 782-5353 or going to their site at http://www.casaofsck.org.


The Adult Softball League registration deadline is Friday, April 15th. Call Parks and Rec. at 393-3249 for more info. Fee is $425.00 per team. Games start May 2nd.

"Kentucky Museum, April 15 – May 14, Department of Art Spring Graduating Seniors Exhibition
From Graphic Design to Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Weaving, Ceramics and Sculpture, this group exhibition, co-sponsored and hosted by the Kentucky Library and Museum, presents the work of the Department of Art’s Seniors graduating in the Spring of 2011. Saturday, May 14: Closing Reception".



Isabelle Barbuzza is having her an exhibition through May 13th at the WKU Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center Main Gallery. 745-3944.

Granville Mitchell will exhibit his art at the Warren County (Main Branch) Public Library from 8-8 at the Porter Cafe through April 29th.

Plays, Theater camp, and auditions happening soon

WKU has a play, April 14-19 called A Taste of Honey at Gordon Wilson Lab Theater. 745-5845. Adults are $11.00 and students are $9.00.

Driving Miss Daisy is coming to the PTK April 15th and will continue through May 1st.

Sunburst Youth Theater Day Camp 2011 will take place June 6-17.

Passover begins today.

It is also a Full Moon. 

This is the last day to register to vote before the May primary. You can register at the County Clerk or Circuit Clerk’s office or the Armed Forces Recruitment office. If you are in high school, you can register to vote at school.

TopSoccer is from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. TOPSoccer is at the Lovers Lane Soccer Complex. This soccer team has a "buddy" for each participant. This soccer team is for soccer players ages 5 through high school who have a mental or physical disability. Orchestra Kentucky and gospel singer Sandi Patty get together for Sandi Patty on Broadway showing at WKU’s Van Meter Hall tonight at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be bought online or at the door. A pre-concert chat with Maestro Reed is at 6:45 p.. in the concert hall also. There is free shuttle service available from downtown at Mariah’s and The Bistro and also from WKU Adams Street Parking Lot.

Tuesday, April 19

A seed germination class is today from 10-12 p.m. at the Kaz Abe facility at 435 Brookwood Drive in BG. This is hand on learning; bring your own seeds. You must pre-register to attend. Call 393-3610. This event is free for all ages.

The library will have PJ Tales at 6 p.m. for all ages. They will make an egg carton caterpillar to take home and have a butterfly story time.

Another free computer class is today at the Main Branch Library from 6-7 p.m. about Digital Catalog Downloading. You must pre-register to attend. 781-4882.

A Warren County Senior Dance and Potluck happens from 6-9 p.m. at the Warren County Senior Center at 200 East 4th Street, with entertainment by Wade Phillips. This is a Community Action event, and all proceeds benefit Senior Center Enrichment activities. “Bring a covered dish, dance, or just enjoy the musical entertainment.” Tickets are $5.00 and available at the Senior Center.

A WKU Steel Band Concert is at 7:30 p.m. at the WKU Fine Arts Center (FAC) Recital Hall. Tickets are only $4.00 a person. 745-3751.

Wednesday, April 20th

Easterfest is today from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Bowling Green Ballpark. It is hosted by Broadway UMC and Crossland Community Church. 30,000 plastic eggs will be there.

Today is Easter.

It will be 2-8 p.m. at the Bowling Green Ballpark. Artists there will be Jimmy Needham, Beckah Shae, and Me in Motion.
May 14th will be the Second Saturday downtown event for May, with Snow cones, Hawaiian ice, face painting, booths, music, balloon twisting, inflatables for the kids, and more.
The Wild Bird and Nature store at 901 Lehman Avenue has an Herb Festival Thursday, April 28 – Sunday May 8th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
May 2nd will be the first Apron Extravaganza. 
May 28th = the West Side Camp BBQ and Backyard Grilling Cook-Off
