More selected events - January 28th - February 5th

Here are some selected events in the BG, KY area.

A short note: Can you get over this weather? It's snowing, it's raining, it's Winter, it's Spring.

This week should also be up and down with all kinds of different weather. At least it is interesting!

Monday, January 28th
ArtWorks meets today at 6:30 p.m. at the 7th Avenue Fire Department Community Room. This is a potluck meeting.

The Corvette City Bop and Dance Club for ages 21 and over meets at 6:30 - 9:30 at the FOP building. Find out more: 991-4040.



 
Tuesday, January 29th
Jeanne Fisher talks about Household Budgets at 6 p.m. at the Main branch library today as part of the Better U Series. This is a free series.

From WKU News: Starry Tales for a Winter Night, a highly interactive experience designed to help you find your way around winter’s night skies, plays today at 7-8 p.m. at WKU’s Hardin Planetarium. (Seating is first-come, first-served, and takes place 15 minutes before the show.)   




Wednesday, January 30th
From the BG, KY Events Calendar page: "The Amigos Resource Network meets today from 3-4:30 at The Foundry Community Development Center 531 W. 11 Avenue... The Amigos Resource Network serves as a means of outreach to the Hispanic/Latino Community in Bowling Green. It focuses on creating greater access to community services that are already in place. Thursday, January 31st
The Depressed Anonymous Support Group meets at 1 p.m. at the ALIVE Center. 782-0082.

NEW - from Google Plus and WKU News: "WKU Libraries is pleased to announce the opening of “The Commons at Cravens” located on the fourth floor of the Cravens Library at WKU’s main campus. The grand opening will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 31) with remarks at 4:30 p.m. by President Gary Ransdell, Provost Gordon Emslie, WKU student Mark Reeves and Dean of Libraries Connie Foster...Contact: Jennifer Wilson, (270) 745-6977."

The WKU Chess Club meets today at 6 p.m. at the WKU Faculty House. You may want to bring your chess set with you. This is open to the public. Find out more: 918-809-6278.

Is having a Pancake Breakfast and Yard Sale on February 1st from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Saturday February 2nd from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm. All you can eat pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy. Tuesday, February 5th
From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "2/5/13 The Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center ( SKyPAC) invites artists, art organizations and concerned citizens to help decide how SkyPAC can best serve the region, Saturday, February 5th at the Barren River State Park Tartan Room. Also February 8th: Dr. Eli Jackson is having another Smiles from the Heart day. It is first come, first served time for free dental care today from 7-4. This event is for needy people who are over 18 and not pregnant. You can pick up a flyer about it at Chandler Park Dental Care at 1857 Tucker Way, BG. (X-rays, cleanings, extractions, and fillings will be done.)

And on Feb. 8th too: 8 p.m. LONE STAR RODEO. L.D. Brown Agricultural Exposition Center. Contact Ag Expo Center, 745-2578."
 
From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "2/11/13 The Annual Houchens Centers Game Day and Card Party will take place on Monday, February 11th 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Eloise B. Houchens Center, 1115 Adams Street, Bowling Green, Ky. Cost is $13.00 includes morning and afternoon snacks, hot lunch and prizes. "2/15/13 Community Education’s 8th annual Spellabration will take place on Friday, February 15th at the Sloan Convention Center, Bowling Green, Ky. The event raises money for Community Education’s after-school programs, which serve nearly 1,000 children of working families here in Bowling Green, Ky. The doors open at 6:00 pm for food, drinks, and a silent auction and the Spelling bee begins at 6:30 pm. For more information please call: Emily at 270-842-4281."

"2/15/13 Saint James United Methodist Church will be hosting the first ever Empty Bowls Fundraiser in Bowling Green, Ky. Empty Bowls is a project working to end hunger in our communities. Local Potters, Pottery students and hobbyist are working to make bowls to be donated. The event will take place Wednesday, February 13th starting at 5:00 pm. For a $10 donation you will get to pick out a bowl of over 200 bowls then will be served a delicious meal of soup, bread and drink, afterwards the bowls is yours to keep.
