Things to do in the Bowling Green Kentucky area October 2-7, 2012.

Here are some selected events for the Bowling Green, Kentucky area for Tuesday - Sunday, October  2-7.

Bowling Green has great things to do this month. Lost River Cave opens its Scarecrow Trail October 6th, Chaney's Dairy Barn has Farm Tours (and a neat store, food AND its famous ice cream) plus a Pumpkin Pickin' Festival Saturday and Sunday.

Beech Bend Park has Drag Racing, camping and lots more, Riverview at Hobson Grove will have a Knit a Scarf Workshop (See the Save The Date section at the end of this posting), and the scary Haunted Houses are revving up.

Jackson's Orchard has their Pumpkin Festival this week on the 6th and 7th.

The Friends of the Library Used book sale is this week too. The Historic Train Museum, where the sale is, has tours for only $1.00 with a book purchase.

Beech Bend has the NMRA All World Finals October 4-7 at the Beech Bend Raceway Park. Find out more: NMRA site event info.

Tuesday, October 2nd
Tryouts continue today for the Fountain Square Players' play, Agatha Christie's Spider's Web at 313 State Street, from 7-9 p.m. From the SoKy Calendar: "Men and women actors are needed, also people for set construction, costumes, props and more."

A free computer class is offered today at the Main branch library, Microsoft Excel Basics. This class starts at 9 a.m. and goes to 10:30 a.m. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

The Graham Drive community branch library offers a Mac Lab today from 3-5 p.m. Call for more info: 781-1441.

The WKU Hardin Planetarium has a show at 7 p.m., Finding Your Way Around the Autumn Sky. Seating is first-come, first-served.

David Bell will be at a book discussion about his book The Hiding Place today at the Main Branch library at 6 p.m. Find out more by reading this WKU News story.

WKU's Hardin Planetarium presents Finding Your Way Around The Autumn Sky tonight at 7 p.m. This show is free. It is first-come, first served seating.

WKU shows Les Liaisons Dangereuses at Russell Miller Theater at 8 p.m. 745-5845 (adult themes).

Wednesday, October 3rd
A free computer class on Fall Hiking is today at 3 p.m. at the Bob Kirby Branch library. You must pre-register to attend. Call 782-0252.

The Main branch library has a KYDS (Ky. Youth Drama Society) meeting at 4 p.m. 781-1441.

Barnes and Noble has Rudy Ruttinger at 6 p.m. signing his book "Rudy: My Story."

Thursday, October 4th

A free computer class is today: Intro to WCPL Databases for Investors at the Main branch library from10-11 a.m. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

The Artistic Soul Gallery at 1014 East 11th Avenue will be showing John Carpenter posters starting today.

Saturday, October 6th
Today is the South Central Kentucky Heart Walk and 5K run starting at Keriakes Park at 8 p.m. 846-5061, heartwalk.kintera.org/bowlinggreenky. From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "10/6/12 South Central Kentucky Heart Walk & 5K Run will be at Kereiakes Park, Bowling Green, Ky. On October 6th 8:00 am with the walk and run starting at 9:00 am. There will be breakfast, silent auction, a Kids Zone, Dog Zone, health booths set up along with a award ceremony at the end. For more information contact Michelle Alloway at 270-846-5061."

Also 10-6, From the WCVK Community Happenings Page: "10/6/12 Salvation Army is hosting “Salley Scrap a Thon” at Living Hope Baptist Church Student Center, Bowling Green, Ky. Saturday, October 6th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm This is to help raise money for missionaries and a new building for the Salvation Army. The cost is $40 includes table space, breakfast, and lunch. There will be mini shops from Scrapbook Village and The Lily Pad for any scrap booking needs, also a raffles and giveaways.To secure your spot please call Ericka Morrison at 270-320-5348."

This is just a small sampling of the many events in and near Bowling Green, Kentucky. I try to keep this updated regularly now, so check back often.

SAVE THE DATE:

October 12th is the Gallery Hop in Bowling Green, Kentucky from 5-8 p.m. I will be there for part of it - - at the Pots Place Studio and Gallery downtown. AND the Artistic Soul Gallery at 1014 East 11th Avenue (showing John Carpenter posters) will also be open for the Hop.

Oct. 12 is an Open Fun Horse Show happens at 10 a.m. at the Ag Expo Center.

Also October 12th is the Bids, Boots and BBQ event at the WKU Ag Expo Center from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, and $15 for 12 and under.

October 16 Knit a Scarf at Riverview! <For Boys and Girls age 8 to 80> Reservations are required.  843-5565.

Saturday, October 27th is The Bowling Green Zombie Walk!
