Bowling Green area events Tuesday-Monday, August 21-27

Bowling Green had the American Idol bus visit downtown last week.

This week has some good events too.


Tuesday, August 21st
The Graham Drive Community Library has a Mac Lab today from 3-5 for all ages. Find out more: 781-1441.

Jimmie JJ Walker, author and actor, will be discussing his book, "Dyn-O-Mite" at 6 p.m. at the Episcopal Church next to the Main branch library. Get your free ticket at any library location or call 781-4882.

Auditions are today for the SOKY Community Children's Chorus for grades 4-7 at 6-7:30 at the Knicely Conference Center. You must pre-register before the auditions. Call 745-1912 for information and to pre-register.

The Bowling Green Hot Rods baseball team has All You Can Eat Tuesday at Home Run Grill today for an $8.00 ticket upgrade. The game takes place at the BG Ballpark at 6:30 p.m. More info: 901-2121 or http://www.bghotrods.com.

Today a free computer class is offered at the Main Branch library at 6-7 p.m., Introduction to Genealogy Resources. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

Honk, Jr., the Musical plays tonight at 7 p.m. at the PTK (Public Theatre of Kentucky) Phoenix Theater at 545 Morris Alley. Tickets are $8.00 and $10.00. 781-6233.

Chaney's has another Ice Cream and a Moo-vie tonight at dusk, "Smurfs". This event is free. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, no outside food please.

There are Concerts in the Park at both Fountain Square Park and Circus Square Park starting at 6 p.m. and going to 10 p.m. 782-0222.

Tonight there is an Agape Gala starting at 6 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church at 1215 State Street to benefit Hospice of Southern Kentucky. This event is black tie optional, and features a sit-down dinner, silent and live auctions, and music and dancing. Tickets are $75.00. Call 843-6563.


Saturday, August 25th
The Historic RailPark and Train Museum has another of their All Aboard Series. This morning from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. their topic is Hobos: The Life and Times of an American Icon. 745-7317. Debra Henninger will be the speaker.

The Main branch library has a free Lee Martin Writing Workshop today on writing memoirs from 10 a.m. to noon.  More info: 781-4882. 

The BG Masonic Lodge #73 at 1601 Westen Avenue is having an All-You-Can Eat Catfish Fry today from 3-7 p.m. to benefit the Orphans and Widows Fund. 270-202-7847.

Christ United Methodist Church has a Cave Mill Cookout today from 4:30 - 7 p.m. This event is free. 842-4343.
