May Squirrels in the Square:
Find 6 squirrels at participating shops in Fountain Square through the 31st of May and win a big, big Surprise Basket filled with neat things. Just find 6 squirrels at shops downtown.

Art Shows, Art Classes, and Exhibitions

The Gallery Hop in Bowling Green is coming up on June 4th from 5-8 p.m. Mark your calendar! 

Donn Mierti (photographer) has an exhibit at the Main Branch library this month in the Porter Cafe. 781-4882.

Anthony Wycihowski photos will be shown at the Bob Kirby Branch Library this month.


Photographs from Safe Haven will continue to be shown from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the ArtsAccess Gallery at 515 East 10th Ave., BG. Monday through Friday. 781-0872.

The VSA Arts Access Gallery is showing "The Artist Within" this month. They are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Wednesday, May 18th
A AARP Driver Safety program takes place today at the Greenwood Mall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You must pre-register to attend. Call 745-0942.

Thursday, May 19th
A free computer class, Introduction to Computers and the Internet, is today at 2 p.m. You must pre-register to attend. Call 781-4882.

The High Five Kid's Club meets at the Main branch library at 4 p.m. They will re-create Claude Monet's water lilies and make a watercolor butterfly. More info: 781-4882.

Today is Teen Thursday at the Graham Drive Branch library starting at 5 p.m. for grades 6-12. This is a Prom Nite. Find out more: 781-1441.

The Bowling Green League of Bicyclists has an easy, mostly flat ride today of 1 to 1 1/2 hours today starting at Kereiakes Park at 6 p.m. You must have a helmet. http://www.BGLOB.com.

Author Silas House will speak at 6 p.m. at the Warren County Main Branch library at 6 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. 781-4882.

Barnes and Noble has a story time featuring Clifford Takes a Trip at 11:30 a.m. Cookies and milk will be served. Parents are asked to bring their cameras, because Clifford will be there. 746-9779.

May 20th WKU will officially open the Confucious Institute and the Chinese Learning Center. The official opening will be at the Ivan Wilson FAC Theater from 2:00 - 4:30 p.m. The ribbon cutting will be in front of Java City. More info: Doris.Patrick@wku.edu.

The First Anniversary Celebration will be at the Caroll Nicely Conference Center Grand Ballroom at 6 p.m. More info: contact terrill.martin@gmail.com.

Saturday, May 21st
This is Judgment Day, according to some people on FamilyRadio.com.

Also today is the North Warren Relay Team's 2nd Annual Run 4 Ruth Ann, which starts at 8 a.m. at North Warren Elementary.

Fountain Square Park is the start area for a Freedom from Stigma walk for Mental Health Month at 10 a.m. Blue Light Special will play then and speakers, balloon release, and a candlelight vigil are planned. More info: call 1-800-618-6128. Read the BG Daily news article here.

The Elder Abuse Prevention Coalition has a Silver Ribbon Restaurant Day at 11 a.m. at many restaurants in Bowling Green today and tomorrow. Special discounts are offered to seniors.

The 2011 Rose Show is also today, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 23 on Dishman Lane. 842-3475.

The Russell Sims Aquatic Center opens today. (10:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.)

From the WCVK Community Happenings page: "Now - 05/30 During the month of May, the Men's Ministry of Living Hope Baptist Church are collecting blankets for the persecuted Christians and people of Sudan; in honor of Moms & Wives.
